I always loved Sweet Lou's approach to the game. This guy was crafty as all hell. Sweet Lou and Sedalle "the thief" Threatt are the 2 craftiest players that I've ever seen. The NBA needs more guys like this in the league today. He was one of the last guys with the old school mentality. That's why he and Byron can chop it up like this. I hate to be that old man saying: "back in my day.... " but damn these young guys today are missing something that the league had going on for like 60 years straight. There was a lineage and respect from young to old, and old to young that is dying off. It really hurts me to see that as a fan because it was one of the reasons why I liked basketball over football and baseball.

Love the discussion about the state of the game. I would argue to eliminate the 3pt line and/or reinstate the hand check rule.

During Iverson’s era, they did bend the rules to allow for more entertaining offence, but there was also much more stringent defence. Then they brought back zone to leverage the defence back against the looser rules. However, today the NBA just gets rid of rules or ignores them all together in order to advantage offence over anything else. By today’s standards, Iverson never carried the ball once in his career.

There is medical science that athletes need more rest between days to reduce injuries. I hope the NBA reduces to 78 games and lengthens the season by 3 days. That change can cut average back-to-backs from 13.5 down to 7-8. Given the rise in streaming, broadcast & gambling revenue the NBAPA, GMs, and owners should be satisfied. I also hope that the NBA eliminates Defensive 3 Seconds and continues tightening up Traveling calls. I have some great data on this.

man Kobe is the guy one of the best who ever do it , but the thing about nick young and D-Lo Kobe was a liittle bit wrong to stop the meeting . Team chemistry is really important for team to win
28:36 ahhhh hearing these stories makes it so frustrating and so bitter sweet. if Kobe didnt get his career ending injury he still could have competed at a high level every year but his body kept failing him. so sad. I remember int he off season almost every year during his prime he would go to germany and get injections in his leg/ knee for the start of the next season. cuz his body just wouldnt match his work ethic. Its why im so jealous of Lebron and his longetivty and waht if Kobe had that body/ longevity but kept his killer work ethic.
@disheemthomas45534 күн бұрын
You're right, Kobe was still lethal until those injuries back 2 back. & even Lebron's build has much benefited from routine load management & annual million dollar maintenence, allegedly. Kawhi has a similar build 2 him & has not been able 2 recover from early on major injury. Kobe probably put more strain on his body than any player ever. So, considering his longevity which is still on the greater end, he may have been able 2 have played much longer if he had dialed it back. But Knowing Kobe's mentality, he would've never had it any other way.

Hearing how Lou responded to B.Scott’s question about the 1 on 1 match against Jamal Crawford and who won, I think Jamal was the winner. Sorry Lou.

NBA has become so boring to watch nowadays. No wonder people are only watching the highlights. I used to love watching the whole game when it was the late 80s and 90s, even early 2000’s was decent. The game has evolved but I don’t think it’s as entertaining as it used to be. The thing that I always found entertaining was how the scorer would score with such tight defence against them. Seeing the hard fouls was fun. Now the referees are way too sensitive! 👍🏽

Kobe, KG & LeBron would have benefited from 1 year in college. I wish Lou, T-Mac, Jermaine O'Neal & Howard went to college for 2 years.
@fkillahАй бұрын
No, they were ready for the nba
@soulofamericaАй бұрын
@@fkillah Of course they were NBA-ready and they earned HOF careers. My point is they would have "benefited" from 1 year of college. Magic and T. Thomas benefited from 2 years of college. I saw Kobe's rookie year. He was disruptive to the Lakers' offense because he was always trying to show that he could put up points rather than getting points in the flow of tie offense. LeBron would have benefited from more Free Throw and Midrange practice. Unlike the other 2, KG entered at 19 years 4 months as a string bean. After another 8-9 months of weight training and strength diet, he would have entered the NBA more like Tim Duncan.
@fkillahАй бұрын
20 plus years in the league and LeBron still doesn’t have a jump shot or free throw so what makes you think a few years in college would have done? Kobe was handcuffed by Del Harris and Jerry West let Harris go because he was impeding Kobe’s growth. Kobe, Garnett, and LeBron all had incredible careers. And Kobe and LeBron are considered to be in the GOAT conversation so how would they have benefitted from college when looking at what they have accomplished. If anything, players like them would have been impeded in college. Some people need college, but not them
@silewis9396Ай бұрын
@fkillah Saying Lebron doesn't have a jumpshot is straight up false. The guy shot 41% from 3 last year and shot the league average numerous times over not to mention drawing up his own catch and shoot game winners. I like a good hoops debate but this is terrible.
@fkillahАй бұрын
@@silewis9396when the league is catered to all offense and no defense you get inflated stats. That’s why scoring and shooting averages are way up. So why when unguarded, his free throw average is still garbage? Good debates are fine, but your myopic view is terrible. Moreover, LeBron shot 32% in 2022/2023 and has a career average of 35%. So that 41% which is this year, on such a small sample size is an outlier. And it’s about time he shot the league average after only 20 plus years and playing no defense. What a shooting achievement!!
