@aidanthomas2510
@aidanthomas2510 7 ай бұрын
@@HighOnIce as an overall project yes it was. Idk what it was but there was some real questionable production decisions made on it beat and vocal wise. I forgot till Em said on the Paul Pod too that the tracklist had leaked, so I'll bet when people saw the Beyonce and Ed Sheeran features (I think they were 2 of the better songs on Revival honestly) they probably immediately thought it was gonna be Encore 2.0. And in hindsight, it kinda was. Only Encore was a lot better produced because it was a Dre in house album. Conceptually though, it was the same. Some songs I loved (Like Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird) and others like Big Weenie I could care less about. With Revival, I for one LOVE Castle & Arose. I honestly think they could be 2 of the best songs he's ever done period and it's a damn shame they were not only on that album but so far into it, as I'll bet a lot of people didn't get to them because of that. There's 3 or 4 others I don't mind, but I couldn't really care for the rest. That's why he took so much offence to it, because he put his all into songs like that. Even he admitted though that there was a few songs on it he'd like to do over in hindsight. It is a shame, because that concept along with the features he had definitely had the potential to be something special. It just went wrong for whatever reason. You're never going to fuck with an entire album back to front unless it's an absolute classic, that's the way I look at it. Some people though, were way more vocal about it than they needed to be. In hindsight, I'm kinda glad it went down the way it did because had Revival not flopped, we would never have got Kamikaze. Pissed off Em is the best Em, and you can't tell me any different.

@@josephbooker259 Nas is one of the greats, but not the goat. His discography isn't big enough, he's been super relevant and made his mark forever for a certain time period if we should be objective about it. Compared to others unfortunately that's it. Don't get me wrong tho. I'm big on Nas as well and always took his side in the Jay-Z vs Nas discussions. Listened through his discography more than once. Grew up listening to him, too and everyone else you mentioned along with Rakim, Wu-Tang, Rugged Man, Brotha Lynch, Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc, DJ Shadow, Doom, Afrika Bambaata, Outkast, KRS one, Big Pun, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Hieroglyphics (Del da Funky Homosapien in particular) etc. etc. There's just too many with history and discographies that can't label him as Goat. I'd even accept Kanye for that spot and I don't even particularly fuck with his music personally

Cole had a cult following for years prior, but it was a very large cult following there’s a reason he was grouped with Kendrick and Drake when he first hit the scene as well …there was a running internet joke for a long time that Cole was a “boring” rapper but that’s the only slight I can remember early in his career other than what’s being mentioned in this video. IMO Cole reached another plateau and started getting the critical acclaim around 2016-2018 he had an impeccable run appearing on guest features it reminded me of Wayne’s run in 2007

This is a bold faced lie Nothing of Cole’s song ruined Nas in ANY sense Cole simply told his story about how he felt over Nas being disappointed And he understood why Nas looked at that track he put out that way. “Was I not up to par when I followed my heart? Granted, my heart was tainted….” There was zero energy towards Nas Which is WHY Nas made Made Nas Proud Because then Nas showed he DID understand what Cole was tryna tell him on why Cole even made that hit record and the reasons for it Nas looked at Cole as “One of Dem Ones” Like those rappers you really need to keep an eye out for And was like, Cole you ain’t gotta go that route, just speak what you feel and fuck if it sells! I felt this interaction between them is one of the greatest hip hop moments and Cole even presented Nas with a Vibe award after

I think Royce said it best “Drop a lonzo balls corpse of on nas porch dog, that’s for the blasphemy”. But of all rappers it’s nice to see Cole finally getting the respect he deserves because he has been in his bag recently putting out just straight bangers

"How Nas schooled Cole on his own sing snd reminded his little homie to never get it twisted" is much more accurate video title.

The reach in this video is insane. The only person who can destroy Nas' reputation, is Nas himself.

If prime jay z couldn't beat Nas in his weakest era how J (apologize) Cole can even come near him
