Unbelievable how luxurious, stylish and technologicallly advanced this car was. No wonder there is that phrasing of "The Cadillac of..." fill in the blank.

Hi Sabba_Dabba, Predating its inception in 1902 Cadillac was preordained to set new world standards for precision. The company’s founder, Henry M. Leland, apprenticed under the legendary gunsmith Samuel Colt where he learned the significance of precision engineering, a standard he brought to his fledgling automobile company. Cadillac’s adopted slogan, “The Standard of the World Award,” dates back to winning the 1908 Dewar Trophy, in its day the “Nobel Prize” of engineering for proving the precision interchangeability of its cars.

My father was a mechanic here in Brazil during 50s and 60s last century, when Brazil did not had a national automotive industry. Back then we only had imported car or CKD (completely knocked down) units that was assembled here, my father told me that in the 50s Cadillacs were the most luxury and advanced cars that the money could buy, if you were rich, Cadillac was the way tô Go. Very Nice car. It is Sad Cadillac was not able to keep the glamour, I like the brend. Buick was also a great car in the 50s, would like to see one in your Channel. Great vídeo, thank you for upload!

My friends dad had the Eldorado version in the colour green as seen at the 06:19 mark . It was from CA , but because he had 3 cars and a narrow driveway the caddy was parked at the back area of the house under a tarp and needed a couple of repairs plus wasn't driven in the upper State winters with salt on the road . I remember those rims but the tires didn't have white walls but had about a 1/8" wide mustard coloured strip while the normal tire for regular cars was white , the tires also had TUBELESS in raised letters which amazed me for 1957 . Nice how the designers carry over a theme to areas of the car. Take another look at the lower rear light and exhaust ports , there a matching rear fender FIN in chrome recessed right at the 12 o'clock position and anchored to that center piece for the backup lights while the exhaust port ones are larger but they both match the design for the front bumper Dagmar bullets . A buyer would never know that useless the got a good look at them and connected the Fin and Dagmars , even the brakelight bezel eyebrow from the side curves in at the equator for a slope that matches the angle for the vertical fin portion right above it but the Bezel also is a smaller version of the headlight eyebrow . One day when 2 of the cars were out , someone drove by that was a cadillac follower and glanced in the driveway. The lower bumper was expose while the trap was lose and showed the tips of the fins. BINGO....this guy knew exactly what is was and had only seen the roof area in the last year of taking that route. But when he got close he saw roof shape under the canvas and couldn't believe it because the area had short summers and cold winters where soft tops didn't sell well. He wanted the car ' as is ' but it wasn't for sale until he finally offered a large cash amount because he knew it was from California and didn't see locals winters . The cash was greater than his dad's attachment for the memories of driving around L.A. with the top down and he was the 2nd owner .

FABULOUS example of the Biarritz, which aside from the unobtainable Eldo Brougham, was simply the finest motorcar EVER made in US history. Now I do want to point out, as an aside, that several of the phillips head screws are not oriented north-and-south. So 1 demerit on what is probably the best example we've seen yet. Grade: A, with small caveat. Cheers!

Many moons ago, when I lived in Minnesota, I drove a friend's 1957 Eldorado Biarritz convertible in an Independence Day parade. During the parade, the power brake booster gave up the ghost without notice, and when I had to stop the car as the High School marching band was going to be performing in front of the reviewing stand, the brake pedal was HARD AS A BRICK! With all my might and with both feet on the large brake pedal, I PUSHED it down towards the floor a very little and the car did come to a stop! Otherwise there would have been some flattened Tubas and bent twirler's batons that day! :)

With the '57-'60 Eldorados the Brougham was the top of the line and about double the price of the Biarritz. The Broughams were made as a response to Ford creating the Continental make, GM one-uped Ford with the '57 Eldorado Brougham being even more expensive the the $10k '56 Continental Mark II. Though this car and any Biarritz is nothing to sneeze at. I especially love that interior.

This car is dripping with class. I’d feel I’d have to be in a tuxedo every time I drive it, even just going to the corner store for milk!

Great car, I noticed something on this Biarritz that I've haven't seen on any other, it's got a lock on the gas cap door, also that fin looks exactly like the upper half of a 57 Chevy fin. Thanks Lou.

That was the best Eldorado until 1972. The '72 was the best they made in my personal opinion. I so much love the '57. What a car! Happy New Year Lou!

I like the 57's better than the 58's because the 57's exhaust went out the back bumper. The fins on this almost look like an afterthought. I think it was done to give the deck a more tapered look. I like the look.

Shame about the blowby and the sticking lifter. I'd expect more from a "concours" restoration. I had a 57 Caddy years ago and it was quiet as a church mouse.

I would definitely sell a kidney for one of these-one of my all time favorites. Engine sounds a little rough up front-what is that ticking? Sounds like a lifter or exhaust manifold leak. Also looks like it is blowing blue smoke unless my eyes are cheating me. Burning oil? Thanks for sharing-Great car! As someone commented, 1957 was a great year for cars!
