Fell in love with the Buick Wildcat (1964) in 1993 at age 17. In '95 bought my first Buick Wildcat (1966). 2014 bought a 1964 Buick Wildcat that I'm currently restoring. The Buick Wildcat is a forgotten (by some) automobile. Thank you, Lou, for taking time shine some light on this forgotten Buick.

Buicks in the 1960's were really special, at least to me. My uncle owned a Wildcat, and a LeSabre, both of which looked right at home with the Lincolns and Cadillacs in the parking lot of their Country Club. As always, thanks Lou! 👍

Yup...Those other cars had their name recognition...but during that era, Buick delivered the very best in large, smooth, powerful, and comfortable big cruisers. That engine was likely the 425ci engine...in 1967, Buick offered a 430V8, providing 360hp. That engine was in high demand by drag racers in the 1970s...it could be modified to over 1,000hp. Back then, the various GM divisions made their own engines!

This Wildcat is a rare and beautiful GM car. My father had a '66 Wildcat Couple blue with blue interior. He said when he and my mom went to the dealer, they gave him wire wheels for free! He had the car one-month when it was stolen in front of our house. He never got it back. Thank you Tim and Lou!

This Buick just looks so right from any angle. GM sure did have it going on in the '60's. Wildcat G/S, Grand Prix, Impala SS, and Starfire made it a tough choice if you were looking for a big performance car in the mid '60's. Stunning example of a rare car, and he chirps the tires inside the building! I gotta get to MCACN someday. Another great video Lou!

Hey Lou. As kids then, we looked forward to the new model years because cars such as this one, had so much to offer in the way of style and power. We had Buick cars in the family, starting with Dad's 1938 , back around his 3rd Infantry days during WW II. More to say, alas time won't allow. Thanks for highlighting this gentleman's fine example of why Buick was a great part of G. M.

Truly a beautiful classic automobile. I truly like the horns on it. It’s refreshing to have a horn on a car that has an authoritative sound to it that actually works and sounds like a true horn. One thing I had done to a pick up truck mine it had the single stock horn from the factory and I thought what is that’s a pitiful sounding horn for such a Brony heavy duty vehicle specially four-wheel-drive so I put an extra horn on it plus an electric air horn and I had achieved the sound I wanted but I don’t believe that was ever option on a 78 Chevy pick up so it was refreshing for me to hear that on this car and judging by the horns, you pointed out in the head it was indeed an option cause the ones back in the day when I seen them I never noticed all those horns under the hood. Thanks again Loewes for taking the time to point those kind of features out.❤

An absolutely beautiful car. The quality of the restoration is evident in every aspect of the car. The question that is missing is what differentiates the GS from a regular Wildcat? What specific things were added to the deluxe interior this car has? You briefly showed the portion of the brochure that had the options on the owners car. That was the one critical piece of this car story that should have been emphasized in the trunk and treats.

Buick were luxury cars, not designed to be muscle cars. So the instrumentation wasn't set up with a sports car mentality and a speedometer, fuel and temperature guages with some idiot warning lights is how they were set up. Then they decide to make the Wildcat to compete with Ford Galaxie 500 XL and Mercury Parklane Marauder they add in a Tachometer and locate it on the consul they, are adding in to the car. As it turns out isn't a convenient location. But it looks more like it wasn't an add on as the Ford and Mercury Tachometers that are mounted on the steering column and block the view of the instrument panel. This was usually a portion of the speedometer or the fuel or temperature guages. Other possible locations would be on top of the dashboard ùnder the rear view mirror. That blocks part of the view of the road. When the manufacturers don't design special instrument panels for these muscle car versions of their full-size cars and just add the tach and gauges, you then have a problem. Since these cars usually are automatic transmissions, having the Tachometer more centrally located near the speedometer isn't really necessary. So maybe Buick had the right idea for this tach placement. It is there for show, not for function.
