@@loucostabile We were a Stude family. My grandmother started buying them in the 30s (Dictator) and knew Hoffman (distr). One brother had a 55, sister a 54, me the 53. Grandmother had a 48, 50, 53. We all drove the 53 sedan until it collapsed after our grandmother gave up driving.

The 1953-54 Studebaker Commander and President Hardtop and Post Sports Coupe' have always been my favorite my favorite 1950's era American Automobile. The design was indeed far ahead of its time. This example is so well thought out and executed to perfection - that it actually COULD BE REMANUFACTURED AND SOLD AS A SPECIAL RETRO-DESIGN HIGH-END SPORTS CAR. This Studebaker is absolutely stunning!

Please excuse me, Lindsey Allison Westhaven? Apparently your unaware, that Studebaker ceased production of their President models, at the beginning of WW II, Dec, 7th 1941, when Pearl Harbor was bombed! Shortly after the start, of the '42 model production. It wasn't resumed again, until the beginning of the '55 model production year. When they introduced the 185" flathead 6, as the Champion engine. And the 224" V8 as the Commander engine, and the 259" V8 as the President engine. From '51 through '54 they only had the 169" flathead 6, as the Champion engine, and the 232" V8, as the Commander engine. They had no other models.

As beautiful as this car is it is no longer a Studebaker. The once great '53 Studebaker this was is dead and gone.

Lou I absolutely enjoy your Channel and appreciate your response to my (almost) tearful remark. I do enjoy original cars and hate to see the classics rebirthed into mechanical thalidomide babies.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it dead and gone, but those of us who know what the roofline was supposed to look like will affirm that chopping the top was an unkind cut. And of course a Chevy LS engine is no substitute for an original. This Studebaker was supposed to sit low on its haunches as if ready to spring like a cat attacking its prey. Lowering the windshield header destroys much of the desired stance.

I think you got the year wrong , I believe it to be 2024 Studebaker with a Hellcat HEMI I see 20K standing in line to order .

I always like to put a dollar amount on Cars. For example, how much would he be willing to sell it for now? How much would it cost if you paid him by the hour to build it? How much would it sell for at Mecum Auction? These cars are generally not owned forever. People get old, sick, die, change homes etc and are required to sell.
