Loud Boom Reported From Virginia Earthquake

OMG Mary I heard this in Short Pump Va about the time you indicated. It was a loud boom that only lasted a few seconds and thought maybe it was a transformer explosion. No shaking except windows and no interior damage that I know of. Thanks so much for posting..

I live in a neighboring county to Henrico. It lasted about 2-3 seconds. I thought something exploded. Heard a loud boom. Friends nearby also report the loud boom and thinking something exploded. I live in a tiny house and it swayed about 3 times from side to side as well as shook. The neighbors dogs were barking and looking around confused. It was crazy!

I live in Chester, VA right next to the Walmart and I was outside with my dog and heard a loud boom off in the distance in the north. At first I thought it was the quarry next to us but it was to big and far off sounding. Definitely sounded like a BIG explosion. My mom lives near gaskins and broad st and she felt/heard it and my son lives in goochland and he said his whole house shook and vibrated and the same sound, but no damage.

Gotta ask this one question after hearing a big KABOOM a few weeks ago here for the 1st time evar where I currently reside: Is it possible the rich & famous (& their body guards) are expanding their underground cavern living quarters, perhaps to make room for new friends, in expectation of needing to hide where they've reportedly got their stash they've allegedly been savin up down there for decades in anticipation of the coming (financial or pandemic) apocalypse?

Hi, Mary. Longtime viewer. I felt this quake AND we had another this morning at 2:50am in almost the exact same spot. I knew you’d report on this 2.8 mag, specifically mentioning how shallow it was. Practically surface level. First quake: I was standing in kitchen and whole house jolted vertically. My crystal chandelier which I consider my earthquake detector (lol, for small occasional horizontal tremors) did NOT shake. We heard a loud boom. Outdoor security cameras recorded it and it sounded like cracking. (Our brick foundation does have cracks now in about 5 places. Was it from that? Not sure, but likely, as we’ve not noticed them before.) My son called from 5 miles away at a store and huge glass windows in the large building creaked (made noise, not cracked). They were definitely wide-eyed! Then, a few hours ago, in the night (2:50am EST - 1/15/25) I was in bed and happened to be awake, literally thinking of and praying about the 2.8 mag quake we had at 5:28pm. I was thanking the Father for keeping us safe and asking the same for the days ahead for the end times we are in. When all of a sudden, the house shook again, but this time trembled back & forth like thunder rumbling. No boom & no jolt. Just a shaking for a 2-3 seconds. Felt lighter but noticeable. I reported. It’s now confirmed as a 2.2 mag at 3.1 miles deep…literally across the river from the earlier one. Side note: my dog did not seem to notice either one prior to the quakes, only barked after. And I heard birds chirping right after the first one. I felt the 2.3 mag on April 8, 2024 (40 weeks ago) the day of the solar eclipse. That one sounded like an explosion & I felt a reverberation, like a wave through my body. Very odd feeling. Slight house tremble. Turns out, this area sits ON the Hylas fault zone. I’ve not found much info on it. I believe the hour is much later than most think. Looks like USGS changed the 2nd one @ 2:50am EST on 1/15/25 from a 2.2 to a 2.3 mag and depth from 3.1 mi to 0.0 mi? 🤔 (Upgraded. Unusual for them.)

@ You’re up-to-date on the news! Fortunately, we maintained full water pressure, but did have to boil. (Have water on hand in case.) Many others were completely out of water. Period. Our area is still having issues, though. There are 8 pumps. 3 were operational to bring the water back…and yesterday, one of those broke! And this morning, yet another water main broke. Locals are really frustrated. And now with two quakes, I think they’re quite unsettled. THIS is why we do what we are able to do to prepare(within our means) and trust the Father with it all. He can extend and provide, but He gives us wisdom and Scriptural examples of those who prepared in advance. Thank you for asking!

Mary the last earthquake you mention around that area 4/9/2024 was only 4 days after the larger Nee Jersey 4/5/24 quake that made headlines. I heard this area is the near east coast plate and Atlantic plate. Mineral Va is not far away from the 8/23/2011 5.8 quake that severely damaged the Washington Monument and National Cathedral.

I googled that city on Google earth and there is definitely a large quarry to the southwest of that city and the end of that fault lines goes through part of it, not sure if that mine is still active, but if there blasting there then it may have caused it.
