Loud skateboard wheels, noisy longboard bearings, try this!

A possible solution to a loud ride is swapping out the bearing spacers. Hope this helps somebody!

Loud bearings are dry and create friction. I've been skateboarding for almost 35 years now and the best lubricant I used is 0/20 to 5/30 full synthetic motor oil. Clean bearings and only 1 to 2 drops of oil. Per bearing all you need. Wipe off oil around bearing on install and ride, I guarantee that you will notice a world of difference, quiet and smooth. That Powell speed cream is bullshit. If you properly clean and oil your bearings twice a year you will have the same set for years like new. I'm still Rollin mine for about 8 years now and they ride like new and I'm a hardcore skateboarder still. Bearings will fail due to friction and lack of lubricant just like any automobile or any other type of machinery. The spacers in between the bearings are useless and can cause more friction.

I cleaned and oiled my bearings and now they make the sound, do you have any idea why that is? It wasn't like that before that

I have some issue with two sets of old sideset wheels getting the same rattle noise on different decks and trucks, the wheels are sector 9 and retro 70 Zigzag, both 70mm 78a. I tried with and without spacers, on the sector 9 I gett less noise without spacers, the wheels are looking great but they are at least 4 years old and maybe more from the factory, however with very little use. It seems to me that the uretane doesn´t retain too well the bearing inside, they pop out easy, not running bt they are too easy to take it off ..I´ll definitely check with other spacers ..maybe being old models they have the same difference of spacer measurement ..but did you experience some particular issue on sideset wheels?

It it normal that the dust guards of the bearings hav to wear off just a little in the beginning? They sometimes gently touch the inner bearing ring.

Yes, on crappy bearings with cheap tinny covers. Look for rubber seals.

Nice one dude! (= why are all hangers shorter than acquired? the outer bearing will rest partly on the threads, which are slightly smaller diameter than the actual inner diameter of the bearing. Made a pair of hangers myself, in aluminium. works way better than any regular brands out there, like randal, paris etc. Fun fact :)

How can I fix this on a skateboard I ride around and it's like the whole noise from the wheels rattling travels through the whole board while riding and it's just so annoying and not satisfying to ride help is appreciated ty

Softer wheels. Soft risers. Tighten everything up a smidge.

Of your wheels move laterallon the axle tighten the axle nuts Otherwise grease or oil your bearings Otherwise it could just be badly fitting spacers between the bearings - get new ones
