It's been almost two years and the desire to play never returned. There were other factors of course. Writing music was never anything other than a necessity for me. It was the way I dealt and related to the world, and it just isn't there anymore. I need it and I wish there was a way to get it back. I've just had to try and come to terms with the fact that those days are behind me. I made a deal with myself last new years eve. If didn't return by this new years I would sell my guitars and try to move on. It sucks but its time to take the last step in letting it go. Thank you both for your comments.

@diane243 I'm afraid so. I lost my dad two days before Thanksgiving. My mom followed in early January, I can't recall the e xact date. The time between now and then is just a foggy blur. Her encouragement was what made me believe I could play music to begin with. Right now, I can't even listen to music. I can turn it on, but it just sort of bounces off of me. I know that's not what she would've wanted, but unfortunately, it's where I am at the moment. It's hard to get better when all you want to do is die. Sometimes, I'm not even sure I want to get better. We all know that our older relatives will probably leave us behind, but I never even thought they would go practically at the same time. It felt like something I was supposed to do. It felt like it was time. I'm not even why I commented on this video. I never do. I do thank you for replying though.

I never understood the animosity that Allman fans have toward Skynyrd. I know they think their band is better, but the musicians themselves respected each other. Bands from the South were a "fraternity of brothers". There was no fierce competition like you found in places like California, Michigan, Long Island, or England.
@wagliz163 Жыл бұрын
I don't know why they even compare the two. Back in the day they weren't that much alike. Allman bros were a jazz-blues fusion jam band. Skynyrd was a song band. They had time and place in common, but their music was different.

+James Rockford I respect that he cared enough to not risk screwing up a tribute. If you're a musician, you know that years and years of songs can get kinda mashed together, and you sometimes forget if you havent played the song much or in a very long time. This was a great version of tuesday's Gone - loved it!!!
@jamesrockford26268 жыл бұрын
rkl17 I think he is making it look like he never heard the song... You can tell by interviews over the years that he is a little jealous of LS because they made it bigger and they kicked more ass at live shows. + Ronnie was a better lyricist
@patrickjordan67108 жыл бұрын
What bullshit......artists sometimes forget the words to their songs....The Dead, Dylan, Springsteen, what the hell damn ....near every artist has a moment like that. Gregg more than likely wanted to be sure he didn't mess the song up. Gergg is hardly fucking jealous of Skynyrd....they looked up to the Allman's as role models....not the other way around. Ronnie often spoke about how they were in awe of the Allman Brothers. Few bands are as good live as the Allman's....I love RVZ's Skynyrd but they can't compare with the Allman's legendary live performances. In Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists of all time....four were in the Allman Brothers...Duane, Dickey Betts, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. Greggs got no one to be "jealous" of. Largest concert in history, Watkins Glenn 1973, The Band, The Allman's and the Dead....over 600,000.

That guy on harmonica is really overdoing it. And the choir out singing Gregg was kind of F-ed up. I like this a lot more than I did when I first heard it. Gregg does a lot to put his signature style upon Tuesday's Gone but this version still falls a little short. The performance is far from bad and short of great. It's just a bit overdone, imo.
