So...perhaps Loudwire isn't focusing so much on vocal style but on artists who are "scary" on stage...is that it? In that case, ok. But still. Loudwire needs to get it together.

The person you didn't know is Devin Townsend. Incredible vocalist. You should check him out. I would suggest "Kingdom" and "Deadhead". Love your show, Lady L. 🤘😎🤘

Who would you add to this list???

Chester Bennington, he's the whole list

I'm surprised they didn't put Tati from Jinjer or Courtney from Spiritbox on this just for the sake of having a female vocalist. Will Ramos definitely belongs if you compare his Sleep Token covers to the Lorna Shore stuff. I honestly don't think Maynard even belongs in this list. His screaming is impressive but not scary and I think Chester falls in that same category. It's more of a release of pain/anger.

Loudwire is basically the VICE of music 'journalism'.

😱 you cussed! 🫣 In all seriousness though, I can’t believe I forgot about Chino Moreno 😅. Also, I would add, aside from Chester (Lauren please don’t yell at me, I’m adding him to the list 🤭), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills), Sam Carter (Architects) and Matt Heafy (Trivium).

They're also missing Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquility and Cemetery Skyline.

Not a bad list at all, by Loudwire standards :) I think they got the more mainstream choices, but the one guy I'd add to the list is Jon Aldara of Iotunn, Hamferd and Barren Earth. Gorgeous clean voice, but a superb doomy guttural growl as well. For a brief introduction, check out the Hamferd 'Slay at Home' video from Metal Injection.

Actually, here's a couple of others: Anthony Trimming from King Goat, AA Nemtheanga from Primordial, and Christian Alvestam from about 100 bands, but best known for Scar Symmetry, I guess.
