I could listen to Brendon play all day long. His music and the show Metalocalypse got me through some VERY tough times as a PTSD diagnosed vet. The music, the show's humor, were both dark and brutal and would give me back that bit of edge I had lost inside. It may sound stupid to me now, but at the time, Brendon's music and Dethklok stopped me from eating a bullet or a bottle of pills. Thank you Brendon for what you have done. I'm alive because of your creations and the power of metal.

When I saw Dethklok live, it was the loudest and most brutal show I've ever had the privilege of attending. They toured with Mastodon and it was an absolutely awesome show. Mastodon played the entirety of Crack the Skye, which was amazing. By the end of Dethkloks set, when I walked out of the Armory, my ears were ringing and I could barely walk straight. It was such a good time! Here is to hoping another tour with the release of the upcoming movie. Love you Brendan, you rock!!

Metalocalypse is a brilliant comedy, and the fact that Brendon composed the music and produced the shows on top of writing the thing is mind boggling. I’ve watched the whole series about 10x and am watching it again currently (they took the first several seasons off of Adult Swim for some reason). It gets better every time I watch it, especially Murderface and Toki.

It's funny in its own right, and it's ten times funnier than that because it's basically a show making total fun of how utterly ridiculous metal can be... yet metal fans love it. It's hard as shit to parody something without pissing off the people you're parodying. So Small is clearly a genius. Either that, or metal fans are so dumb they just don't realize he's making fun of them.

Go into the Water has phenomenal chord work. Progression is perfect and the use of dissonance makes it so good. The tension/release back and forth makes that one of my favorite tracks on the album. Beyond heavy. I could listen to that track on repeat for days. When you pair it with the animation it's masterful. The little vibrato sections he adds throughout numerous songs with the whammy gives such a Gilmour vibe.

cause good technique is all about efficiency, the type of pick you is a massive part in it too thicker and sharper picks are gonna be louder. that's what I use my Dunlop sharp 1.5mm. usually for shredding cause I like a lot of pick attack, but over the years as I've got better at picking to where I can do Paul Gilbert and Jeff Loomis licks, I had to become efficient so smaller lighter movements. otherwise the James hetfield white fang is the all around best lick. I don't even have calouses anymore cause I don't push the strings any harder than need be. but I play at least an hour a day on a 7 string with 13-80 set of strings in f. which is similar tension to a standard 6 but way bigger strings. it's for that same reason I don't like super low action.

Force yourself to play right up over the neck sometimes when you practice. You'll HAVE to pick lighter or you'll be buzzing out the strings all the time, and you'll learn to not rely on just resting your arm on the guitar's body and digging in with your wrist.

It's the model metal and hard rock players have been begging Gibson for for almost 40 years now. Explorer or V, 24 frets, with a FR and locking nut. Binding would be nice. It's hardly a "new design;" oodles of other companies have been making axes like that the entire time. Gibson just refused to do it until recently. For a brief, wonderful time in the early/mid 80s, Gibson sold quite a few Explorers and V's (and even some LPs) with factory-installed Kahler locking trems and nuts, but apparently whenever that contract was over they just gave up on ever selling guitars with locking trems again. Until Brandon finally set them straight.

There's one huge bonus feature though. You know how when you're in a bar or restaurant and a cell phone rings and 20 people start hurriedly digging theirs out to see if it's ringing? I don't have that problem. I've yet to hear another phone with the theme song to Metalocalypse as it's ring tone. I'm sure there are others, though i imagine fewer and fewer every day. But I've never heard another one. Sometimes, when the whole world is circling the drain, it's the littlest of little things we can take a modicum of pleasure in. And sometimes, it's enough.
