The way he growls is amazing, brutal, yet understandable, one of the best growlers in death metal

100% - a personal favorite besides Johan (among others) is Phil Bozeman from Whitechapel. He is hands down, the best DM vocalists in the scene right now. According to me atleast.

This man is the reason I got into growling & he also gave me the best advise when I got the chance to meet him (at the Berserker Pre-Listening) "Don't tense up" he said. That opened it up for me. Being relaxed in the throat lets it sound much more brutal in the end. Also that EQ trick, bumping up the high frequencies in the monitoring helps big time. 30 years! 🥳

Yea that's universal advice for everything music. When I started to relax while playing guitar it had the same results.

Johan is my favorite melodic death metal singer, i've loved Amon Amarth since I was 14 and now i'm 25 they're still my favorite melodic death metal band, I first heard them in Saints Row 3 back in early 2013, it was when my parents bought me the game and I couldn't stop listening to them and still can't🤘🤘🤘

What a great representation of modern metal. Johan is a master of his craft and a truly genuine and humble person.
