Judging from these comments, it seems like people just want the same album over and over and over and over again. We forget that this is Architects' 9th fucking album, maybe they just wanted to switch shit up? Imagine all the hard work and time it took to pump out a 9th studio album just for someone to chalk it up to "generic" or "butt rock". Crazy
@setra233 жыл бұрын
Nah, we just an album that sounds like Architects, not every other, boring, chart metal band. I have and like every album from Nightmares to Holy Hell (except The Here and Now). There is an obvious progression throughout the albums, this latest one just feels lazy.
@iwillspam59853 жыл бұрын
@@setra23 Well guess what they actually worked really hard on it. Do you think getting all those strings and brass musicians is easy? Metalcore fans are fucking insane dude
@setra233 жыл бұрын
@@iwillspam5985 As some one who writes, produces, plays, records, mixes and edits their own music, I'm fully aware how much work it takes to make a song. I never claimed that the band was lazy, I said the album sounded lazy. To me, there is nothing interesting about the new record. Something that, when you've got one of the best modern riff writers in Josh in the band, is disappointing.
@Justaguy56783 жыл бұрын
When you go from making what they made on Holy Hell to making this album, it's quite the contrast, and people are going to be shaken. But it's not just that. They went from Hollow Crown to The Here and Now without missing a beat - no drop in quality in my opinion - whereas most of the light stuff on this album feels kind of empty and generic in my opinion (arguably taking influence from/borderline copying starset, BMTH, etc). The only softer songs on this album that I thought were decent were Dead Butterflies and Dying is Absolutely Safe. I'll admit, personally, I was really mad at Architects after their singles. Black Lungs was above average at best, and Dead Butterflies was probably the best of the four despite being the lightest. Animals in my opinion is just generic radio rock and Meteor is probably the worst song they've written, with all due respect. But after the release of the full album, I appreciated what they were trying to do. Nevertheless, I think it is a step down from their previous work in terms of originality and quality. Howver, this is not a knock on them so much as it is an inevitable happening. They've been making music for 15 years. Sounds get stale, lyrics become hard to come by. So they change things up, try to make pop-accessible music and gain new fans. I understand that. But you really can't blame people for being upset. I for one am tired of bands selling out to make butt rock and pop/alt music (I'm talking to you Asking Alexandria and BMTH), and I know a lot of others are as well. I was pleasantly surprised with the full album release, but nevertheless it was not a great album.
@9ChildOfCybertron63 жыл бұрын
@@Justaguy5678 Totally fair assessment, man! It really is quite a dramatic change from their previous work, but that's kind of what I like about it, you know? It keeps the band from sounding stale, and shows a side of them people would've never expected to hear. My biggest gripe was with people who only listened to the singles and formed their opinion and cast the album aside. That's why I'm not a big fan of bands releasing 4 or 5 singles beforehand, (I understand why they do it, though.) It's really to each his own at the end of the day.

Pfffft stop trying to exempt every band from criticism. Yeah they're allowed to change their sound and yes they can do whatever they want with their music, but fans have every right to dislike and express their dislike. Why do people get so bitter over people having a differed opinion on something they like? Have a healthy discussion and get over it for fuck sake. The new album is pretty good in my opinion :)
