Les Vampires is a very good serial. It's listed on in the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die reference book. The only issue is that the individual episodes get MUCH longer as the story progresses.

@@steveblundell7766 Well, the editor of the reference book is not the only contributor as other respected film critics and scholars are listed in the back and their initials appear at the bottom of each brief essay detailing the importance of the selected film. I would agree that one cannot rely on a single reference book to select the "best" films, novels, albums, etc., and that is why I also look at other critic and scholar-related lists be it the Cahiers du Cinema "Greatest Films" list or, when referring to novels, the Fadiman and Major Lifetime Reading Plan. However, I would NOT call the Les Vampires serial "horror" as it deals with a criminal empire rather than anything outright horror related. They just named themselves "the vampires."

@@steveblundell7766 I think there is confusion due to the title and some of the still photographs with Irma Vep dressed in a black, form-fitting outfit with bat wings. Again, I am not saying that the 1001 series of reference books is the definitive film guide for cinephiles. I also look at a number of other lists including the Village Voice list of the "Greatest Films," Cahiers du Cinema's "Greatest Films" list, and the New York Times Guide to the Greatest Films Ever made. It is the same with the novels I read as I feel it is important for individuals to expand their horizons and expose themselves to as much world culture as possible. I feel the 1001 reference guides are a good starting point for those wishing to learn more about cinema, literature, and music in general. Regardless, I have almost completed 900 out of the 1001, so I generally view films from other lists as it is becoming more and more difficult to find the remaining films from the book I have yet to watch.

That is an ongoing issue with all boutique labels, I'm afraid... I am fluent in English, but I would love if they included Spanish subtitles so I could watch them with non-English speaking members of my family, and friends. That would add such massive value... I understand sometimes they cannot include them because of license issues, but then it doesn't make sense that they are freely available to buy in non-English speaking regions.

HORRIBLE music as usual. Newly composed silent movie soundtracks are normally inept and shrill. They should be recorded on vintage analog equipment. But the restorations and the films look great.
