People like him should be recognized and instead we should invest our money for repairing bags/shoes to this kind of man knowing that all our expectations will come through, this guy is skilled, excellent and understand what he is doing to repair the bag with quality. Imagine that’s Louis Vuitton bag and he made it same as before, I’m pretty sure it’s also better than before. You see the stitching? That is totally difficult to do, because one wrong move the hole would get worse. Bravo to this guy really. Thumbs up and totally amazing 👍🙌👏

When I left school 1970 and went looking for a job, craftsmen, people working with their hands, were paid poorly. Nowadays they are getting what their skill deserves.

@Alistair Blanch, only sometimes, I served in the British Armed Forces as an Engineer for 16 years, unfortunately I got injured and was Medically Discharged. I was always interested in hunting, fishing and shooting and as I'm now Disabled, I looked at engraving, especially firearm engraving, as a second profession (I enjoyed it as a hobby) what I discovered was that 3D Laser engraving was cheap and mass produced and hand engraving paid so poorly that most firearm engravers take on other work such as jewellery engraving and even designing the engraving for the 3D Lasers! Sadly, here in Britain, hand engraving is a dying art form.

You are giving all of your handbag fans a treat with this video. Especially love when you do the vintage bags--those vintage Vuittons were very well made back then! I'm sure the customer was very pleased--she'll be able to use this bag for another 20 years if she likes. Beautiful bag, beautiful job!

Love to watch your videos. I make many of my own handbags out of upholstery material because while I have a commercial sewing machine it’s a garment machine and won’t handle thick leather. Your videos give me hints to use in construction.

The people who scoff at the price of the repair of these bags, need to go visit the LV website and see how much these things are going for 'new'. I'm still amazed at how much people pay for a label/logo, and are ignorant as to what they're getting for their money. Gawdy print, cheesy lining materials, cardboard stiffeners. The bags are far superior after you've given 'em your touch, and upgraded the materials as needed.

LV bags are durable, stylish, and have excellent customer support. It comes with lifetime warranty and free cleaning. I have a 22-year old Monceau 28 handed down by my sister to me. When I computed it, considering the life of the bag, the daily cost is $0.25 per day. So what is not to like? The restoration made on the video is extensive. I had mine repaired by LV for $380 - replacement of lining and restitching of the exterior part in 2019. This guy really did an awesome job. 👏👏👏
@RatdogDRB
@RatdogDRB 3 жыл бұрын
@@ladyesther3400 First, I don't see the wisdom in paying (let's use your numbers) $2000+ dollars for a bag which appears gawdy, nothing more than paying to have a company's logo splattered all over it... just so that everyone can SEE that I have a certain brand of bag (that's vain). Second, I sure as HELL would not pay $2000+ for a bag if I KNEW it was constructed with cardboard stiffeners, and had a lining which would crumble and turn to goo after a number of years. Elegance is subtle in appearance, and would use a fine/thin leather inside lining, and would use something more durable than cardboard (even plastic sheeting would be an improvement). A well made shoe is more complicated to construct than a bucket bag, and if I watch the sales, I can buy a pair of Allen Edmonds Strand Oxfords for $150 (and, NOT "seconds" or "returns"), I know, I have a pair being shipped now. And, even IF some of the materials inside of it are of lesser quality than I like, I could have them (right out of the box) rebuilt by Steve and have far less money into that pair of shoes than $2000+. The point, do your due diligence and KNOW what you're getting for your money, don't just get suckered into a "brand/label" that you assure yourself with: "It must be good, I paid a lot of money for it."

I love the sound of the post machine (not the genny), it just sounds so smoothly mechanical. Absolutely crack job with the sewing, and close up! I’ve been a seamstress for a few years and would be embarrassed for such a close up of my work. I’d be proper happy for half the talent you have.

Another masterpiece. I've watched some "restorers" just do away with the lining and leave the bare canvas...No comment here. Last year I learned that a new LV factory was opening up in Texas (not really sure where but I seem to remember somewhere just outside of Houston) You may want to investigate in case you'd be interested. And you threw in a new lining for the pochette...my goodness! Great work !

Hi Steve. A little info about the date code. From the early 90's until 2006, the first and third number is the month. So that would match this bag. But from 2007 to present, the first and third number is the week :)
