You do more than you promise because you care about the craft, the product and the customer. It's more rewarding for you to go OCD and perfect the job, than it is to meat the demand and or means of the customer. They stepped up to the plate and are willing to pay for as much work they can afford, you are just taking it to the next level, paying with labor and care. No harm in this, if you can afford to do it. The best customer for you, is one who says, "Steve, I trust you. Do what you need to do, and write me up whatever it costs." They are the best because they love your work and respect you.

I’m not sure that Louis Vuitton would have repaired that one. It looks like it well used, and a bit too rough at that. You’re work is excellent . Perhaps you should contact LV and see if you could become an authorized repair station for them. Their goods are excellent quality and I believe your work lives up to their standard of quality.
@annelisabethcom4 жыл бұрын
witatter1 They would not have repaired it. Cracks in the canvas precludes repairjobs. It's unrepairable. The ones here were minor. Any more and he shouldn't have done the repair. Still, I wonder why spend that much money on canvas that's begun cracking.

Going back to unstitch the second zipper stiches (once or twice?) probably added to your 'time'. Never the less. It looks marvelous as usual. You should probably just accept that the true craftsman/artist inside of you cannot let anything go out of the shop half done. Or not looking really good. I have seen enough of your videos to know that you often change your methods as you deconstruct and think about the project. That happens after the quote and you never add on to the quote. Beautifully done! However, if it was me, I would just buy a new one, with that particular bag! Your job is so detailed and meticulous, on top of the material used, that of course it’ll be $800+ and you can find almost perfect condition used Speedy for $600-$700.
@jennifer-zs5wi4 жыл бұрын
Ade S The bag may have been sentimental to the owner .... Would you rather buy a new one or send Steve the first bag your parents gave you? If you have a bag that long, there is usually a reason.
@Styledandorganized4 жыл бұрын
jennifer * yeah, that’s totally a possibility. I’m sure there is a reason why, of course. I’m just saying, sometimes it’s cheaper to buy a new one than repair. I once bought a pre loved speedy 35, because it was super cheap, and said to myself that I’d send it to the LV store to get it freshen up/repair the top handles. When I took it to the store they suggested I change every patina piece because if I just changed the handles, all the veins and tags would look completely different. So I did the whole thing and the bag ended up looking like new but I spent $850 on the repair + $250 that the bag costed originally so I paid $1100 total which is almost like buying a brand new one haha and later on I found another pre loved one that was described as 9.9/10 for $500 and I bought it for my mom (we both had a speedy 25 since the early 00’s but we were fixated in getting a speedy 30 each as well) so I got it for her birthday and it literally looked brand new. Like she really thought I had just bought it at the store. So I ended up paying twice as much for mine, unnecessarily, and it was a loss because if I ever decide to resell it, I wont get anywhere near $1100 for it. So yeah, that’s my personal experience.
@aussiestallion694 жыл бұрын
He mentioned at the start it was a $580 job, so already ahead compared to buying a used almost perfect condition @ $600+, however he does say normally an $800 job.
