Cycling Peru - The Land of Extremes // A Documentary

Peru is a land of extremes! From absolutely out-of-this-world landscapes & dizzying altitudes, to interesting people & diverse biomes, there are hardly enough superlatives to describe Peru.
From September to December 2022, we spent 89 days cycling 3,215 kilometers through Peru, with a mind-blowing 55,000 meters of positive elevation gain!
For us, Peru has been the country with the most adventure, the most remote trails and some of our greatest achievements. But, it has also been the country with the most disrespectful drivers, the most aggressive dogs, the worst roads and the biggest contrasts we’ve ever encountered.
So, you could say cycling Peru has been the experience of a lifetime...

I had to laugh at your lentil meal at 41.00 as I had a very similar meal today, only with extra vegetables and potatoes. Then I remembered that potatoes originate in the Peruvian Andes, and googled that wild potato plants were found around Lake Titicaca about 7,000 years ago!

We were nervous with you out on those incredibly remote roads, with the river crossings, big mining trucks, illness, -14 degrees celcius, high altitudes, and busy windy coastal highway! Well done. I believe it's taken me a couple weeks to follow your journey from start to finish. This video was by far the best thus far. All have been terrific, but the natural landscape of Peru was spellbinding. Thanks so very much for sharing your journey with us. -- Humorous sidenote: With our terrible weather at the moment I've been watching your videos often while riding my ergometer at home. When the scene in the video is in heavy traffic and you come close to a dangerous situation I found myself fumbling for the brakes on the ergometer! 🤣 -- Now I'll need to wait a while for updates from Bolivia. Wow, you are both so strong and tough, mentally and physically. What a fantastic journey through Peru, I was sorry to see you both very sick. I know how bad abdominal cramp and pain can be, as I have had Crohn’s disease for over 35 years. You are both super humans to continue cycling.
