Back in the day, I spent 6 months bicycle touring in Australia (2 months in New Zealand and two weeks each in Tahiti and Fuji, also for a total of 9 months out), and I have to say, it was the best bicycle tour I have every done and I've toured over 30,000 miles all tolled over the years. For a North American, it was a real eye opener with new plants and animals to experience every day and the Australians were very welcoming. I used a mth bike because most of the outback roads are gravel. I'm old now (73), but your video makes me want to go back for another ride. I admire your grit to take on the Outback, it can be very intimidating.

Mullewa to Mt Augustus & Coral Bay by bicycle ! Legends! That's most of the Wool Wagon Pathway. If you visited the museum at Murchison township you would see photos of the Men who worked on sheep shearing teams and cycled through the area during the shearing season, approx 120 years ago. We have travelled extensively through that region, we love it. Well done.

Once I did 5876 km by 🚴🏼 in Australia too😊😊 from Adelaide to Darwin, including 1500 km to and from Uluru & Kings Canyon. I should though have started in Sidney, then to Melbourne, seen in retrospect. I moved faster than expected. Once in Darwin I tried to borrow money in order to 🚴🏼 to Perth and Denmark (400 km SE of Perth), but due misunderstandings at home (my mothers misreading of a letter…), Denmark in Europe, I couldn’t set out my plan B…I still regret it🙁

Epic and beautiful. Australia has amazing trees and an amazing coast line. Immense respect to make such a beautiful travelogue and to complete such an amazing journey. BTW, I thought you folks were vegetarians but I think that I saw you grilling up meat at one of the camp sites.
@louisaandtobi Жыл бұрын
We were vegetarian for many years before our journey, and also the first 6 months still of our journey, but at some point we felt like we were missing out on a lot of culture on this trip by not trying local dishes. So eventually we decided to occasionally try local dishes / accept invitations by people, even if they contain meat. In this case the meat on the BBQ came from the Cattle Station directly next to the camp ground we were staying, and as we hadn't had a BBQ in Australia yet, we wanted to try it. 😊

I'm so glad you made it safely though the outback, I was a bit worried about you when you said that was what you were doing. There is a good reason why random people just stop and give you water, because people die out there. Really really well done and all the best for the rest of your trip. Stay safe.
