I can confirm it sounds more epic in the flesh. I was at the London gig, Louis is a monster on that kit. I thought it was pretty brave of them to do some of their stuff with a five piece but let's face it, playing with other musicians is far more exciting! Well worth my 900 mile round trip.

I swear to God, it's like seeing Prince and The Revolution in the early years, circa 1980-81. Absolutely astonishing!
@joekennedy19506 жыл бұрын
I have seen exactly that, and now I just wish I could vote this comment up more than once. PEOPLE look at this. There is hope for US music.
@daedrmr2dae Жыл бұрын
@JDODSON7 Interesting analogy! I was too young for that, but I can imagine how that might have been turning things upside down, and the live energy it must have had before Prince became a household name must have been inspiring to witness. I don't think these guys will enjoy that kind of fame unfortunately. Prince knew how to have his talent take a back seat to a kind of narcissistic storyline that put beauty and sex on a pedestal, and everyone could understand it regardless of their musical taste or lack thereof. Maybe put another way, Prince seemed to know how to walk through Babylon half naked all while pounding a Bible, writing great hooks, and riffing on guitar. These guys seem too thoughtful to do that, too cerebral. And they shouldn't, it would be too affected. I only hope that that these guys stay true to their talents, and I hope they keep writing great songs and continue to gel and develop as a band.
@myfrequencies191211 ай бұрын
The early Prince comparison is so accurate. Saw an interview where they asked Louis his influences & was damned when he didn't say Prince. It's in the DNA though, subconscious influences are waaaaay stronger than conscious ones! 😂

Great tempo control by Louis, because with the excitation and the energy of the live gig, it would be easy to speed up, and I'd not blame hime for that, so great timing control, right on.

as a drummer, i gotta say the most badass thing about louis is that he plays a right handed drumset when he's left handed

Geesh...the mic placement/choice and EQ on the drums is amazing! This is proof that musicians that can play at this level "have fun" when they play :-) You can tell that she "gets pumped up" by the solos and Louis' drumming style, just like the audience. He's got that "backbeat with continuous snare ghosting" thing, like Keith Carlock.
