Yuengling Lager is in my top 3 swill-cheap-session beers. In no particular order...Yuengling Lager, Pabst, Genesee Cream Ale. One of these is usually my first beer of the day.

Yuengling Traditional Lager was my go to beer back in '86 when I lived in NJ. I loved its beautiful color and very smooth flavor. It was not available when I moved to FL until 2000 and I resumed drinking it again. Unfortunately I contracted pneumonia in 2019 and I lost my taste for it. Somehow it was very bitter and not smooth tasting at all. So now I'm back to an old favorite, Miller high Life, which I find smooth and very satisfying.

Oklahoma finally got Yuengling on draft. Next month it will be available in stores. Had this on draft Monday at a pub and I really enjoyed it. Probably my top Amber style lager to drink now.

Hi Jay, having a Yuengling Traditional now. It is, these days, a go to every day beer, and having sampled much of the market of American lagers, I think it's at the top. I agree the Miller HL is also good. Amber Bock IS better, and better than Black & Tan, but less available down here in SoFla, but I think less than the price you quoted. Just got some 2017 Yuengling Summer Wheat. Yum! Enjoying this batch as much as last year. Get some if they send it yer way. Cheers!

I enjoy Yeungling Lager. I have had bad luck with the green bottles in the past, so I usually buy the 16 ounce cans. They sell them in my area at some gas stations at 2 for $3.00. Not a bad deal. Great review and cheers!

I had this on draft at Yorktown Pub in Yotktown Virginia. It was absolutely delicious by itself. But, when I paired it with the fried oysters the food brought out a very strong alcohol tatse in the beer that I did not find very enjoyable. I think it was the breading on the oysters that brought out the alcohol flavor. I bet this would pair perfectly with non-breaded chicken wings. To me this beer has a malty/toasty character that makes it different from other lagers.

I actually remember when Yuengling came to Louisiana, although I haven't lived there since I was 12. I went to New Orleans on vacation that year and saw numerous billboards about Yuengling coming to Louisiana. I live in Texas, where it has finally become available in the last year or so. It is being contract-brewed in El Paso or somewhere else in Texas. I first had this beer at a bar in New Orleans (the one with the "Huge Ass" beers). It is quite enjoyable and I rather like it. I hope we will get some more of Yuengling's other beers in my area, as we currently only get a few. I would like to try the Oktoberfest beer, for example. I love that kind of beer, generally. For the record, what I like about this beer channel vs most other beer channels/sites, is that you are not a snob about beer. Most people seem to think you can't voice a positive opinion about any big American beer or you are some dumb, uneducated jackass. You always seem to be able to understand that different beers were created to serve different purposes and should be evaluated accordingly. For instance, you don't get a beer like Busch and ask, "Where are all the hops? Why isn't it hitting me in the face with that floral bitterness?" The answer is that it isn't an IPA and is meant to be an easy-drinking beer. Of course, you also appreciate other beers that are more "craft" oriented. I am fairly similar in my taste in beer that way. Although, I generally prefer more traditional beers (for instance, I love many old German beers and one of my favorite local breweries is a German-styled brewery based in Fredericksburg, TX called Altstadt). Keep up the good work. You look like a man enjoying what he is doing and that is how to do this kind of thing.

It's somewhat popular (always available) here in NC. It's more of a budget craft beer here, usually sells well in stores but not bars from what I see. They had issues with quality control a few years ago but I've seen no signs of that lately. Cheers

Wow Ronald, must be regional price differences. LOVE watching your reviews BTW... So went to college in AL and now back to Upstate NY (Near the Chad beer review guy). Usually beer prices higher here than down South (plus the lovely NYS beverage tax). Yet not for Yuengling up here! Hanaford grocery last week = $8.99 for 12 pack cans! Walmart usually $9.99 or so. I'd take "Americas oldest brewery" over MHL all day...

So I finally searched for a beer you have not reviewed- Yards IPA. Brewed in a facility only blocks from center city Philly, this brewery is our second-most popular homebrew. The IPA is their signature but they offer a variety of brews. First on the list is of course Yuengling. Even though its been brewed about two hours NW of Philly we’ve claimed that as our own. Which is completely rational once you consider yuengling only recently expanded south and west. For the vast majority of its existence it was a regional product- and Philly was by far their biggest consumer. Even with all the new craft brews and hipster ipas flooding the market Lager is still our number one beer. We are fiercely loyal to it. But this video was in my search results so the algorithm amazingly made the Philly connection (or maybe its just because they both begin with a “y”). 😂

Which do you think is better american lager beer - Yuengling Traditional Lager or Budweiser? I know the common perception is YTL is the far superior product but i think that perception is a bit overblown and while i like and enjoy Yuengling - it's not really all that i don't think. That's a good question. Budweiser might win by a paper-thin margin, because I think it has a bit more snap.

The taste is unique an different from your typical regular beer. And because it hasn't always been available in many places, I think that some people may consider it a crafty/hip beer to drink if it is a fairly new offering in their area.

PA native here. I used to drink it all the time , now it's to expensive. They have a more budget friendly beer called yuengling premium it's decent. Around here if you sit down at a bar or restaurant and say you want "lager" everyone knows you are talking about yuengling lager.

Yuengling's Traditional Lager is a good beer there is nothing outstanding about it, but there is nothing too dull or bad about it either. I would say an easy B category on this one. I have yet to try their Lord Chesterfield Ale; however their Black and Tan is good.

I tried the Yuengling many years ago, wasn't impressed, and just stopped buying it. Saw the 24 oz. can at the gas station, tried it along with you, and it's actually pretty good. Nice aroma, flavorful, and quite nice. I'm surprised it was this good. Not sure what changed. Maybe I got old beer the first time. A- in my opinion. And yes: Definitely toaster oven on any fried foods. Soggy microwaved fried food isn't worth eating. Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler!

Drinking this beer while watching. This beer is good for golfing, BBQs, tailgating, etc. But personally I’d get tired of it as an after work beer. I agree that it’s probably overpriced for what it is.

I enjoy Yuengling but I get an odd sweetness from time to time. I can usually find Michelob for a similar price so I don't buy Yuengling that often.

agreed, high life is the best cheap beer. literally get a 32oz for 1.70 after tax where a 24oz of Yuengling is 1.99 pre tax.. I'm a cheap bastard
