The Falls Fountain was a gift to Louisville, KY, from local philanthropist Barry Bingham, Sr. that debuted shortly after he died. It was located just downstream from the Clark Memorial Bridge, which was closed to traffic & open to pedestrians during the dedication on Aug 19, 1988. We were part of the multitude, walking from our home to the middle of the bridge after I set a VCR to record the news coverage as seen in this video. Sadly, it was costly to maintain & broke down often. It spent more time in "the shop" than operating during its decade as a river attraction.
