Both Valley Station and Pleasure Ridge Park make up the extreme southwestern part of Louisville, otherwise known as the South End. There's not much excitement to this part of town, as it's full of brick ranch residential subdivisions. All of the amenities are off of Dixie Highway, which seemingly offers nothing more than cheap retail and fast food chains.

Nice to see this. I lived in Valley Station from 1999-2008 when I moved back to New Albany. It’s sure changed a lot out there in just 13 years.

Moved to Valley Station in 1976 when I was 6. Grew up in Leemont Acres from 76 to 88. I pkayed on the Gene Snyder when it was MUD. I remember it being called the Thomas Jefferson Expressway also. And that "trashy liquor store" you chose has been there since the 70s so...cheers to Valley Liquors.

I grew up just a turn off at the 10:28 spot in this video. I went to school at the Beth Haven which is on left at 14:20 of the video. At the 18:17 mark on left is PRP Ice Cream which I can’t give enough kudos to. At the 18:50 is a Bingo on the left, which used to be a skating rink. Good thing the walls can’t talk lol. At 20:16 is the old DoubleMont Chevrolet where I had my first job. At 23:24 on the right is Richard Kyle’s Autosound for all your car’s audio needs. At 23:29 on the right is Western High School, where my wife graduated. She concurs with Chris’ comments in the Shively video lol. 28:33 mark is the Greenwood boat docks. Lots of things happened there…..at night lol. Chris’ comments on the area are spot on. 40272 and 40258 are working class parts of town. A bit trashy and at times a bit classy too.

I grew up in valley Station. moved out ten years ago. I mean I can't hate on u. we are a little trashy. we are nice and respectful people out that way. also valley high school way better than prp. its is blue color all the way. we have nice houses there. my mom lives off dodge lane. if here house was out in the east end it would be higher in value. I think u did a great job with all the louisville Kentucky videos.

Before “the merger”, SW Jefferson county was very much like a small town. Everyone knew each other. Life revolved around family and friends, church and little league- it was a great place to live. An area some would call “dull”, was what so many of us preferred about our area. While the same small town vibe still exists among us natives, the Metro government has used our area as a dumping ground for the past decades and good people are leaving as quickly as possible.

The Valley Station/Dixie Highway area really needs some heavy investment. As mentioned, there aren't a lot of jobs that pay well out in that area, which contributes to the poverty and crime rates. If that starts to change, I feel like the area will improve drastically, and rapidly.

We got off of Dixie right now. I grew up in Valley and I loved it. Thank you so much for posting and dogging us to much. We were learned to fight when we were little. Now it seems they are taught to shoot. SMH. HORRIBLE 💐🌸🌺🌷

The worst thing that happened to Valley Station/PRP (other than forced busing) was the merger - As for Valley High School - my friend was offered the principal job - she didn't say no - she said "Hell No!"

Also you some how accomplished going down every road in the nice areas. I guess louisville is good at hiding the bad areas, you didnt go into valley downs or valley village or the neighborhood behind meijers.

No reason for a normal East Ender to ever go down that way, but there is a very cool historic house and farm museum on the Ohio near where you ended the video. It's called the Farnsley Moreman Landing.
