I think Turkish people should stop claiming this dish is stolen from them and chill out in the comments 'cause they humiliate themselves. Greece was under the Ottoman empire for 400 YEARS, each cuisine was influenced by the other! Greece and Turkey SHARE a lot of recipes and that's not between just those two countries, but also all the countries that were under the Ottoman empire. Did all of them steal your recipes too? I don't think so, that's the result of cohabitation.

Please stop acting like that and taking the part of your country because that seems like it's your advantage. Also the recipe of moussaka is not actually known where it came from, many claim it is of persian origin and it comes from maguma which is a similar recipe as moussaka with lamb and minced meat. Moussakas is served in different versions across all the balcan peninsula and also Egypt and Libano so Greece has it's own version of moussaka and it's a traditional food. Now will you ever stop claiming and actually believing everything belongs to your country and search before you talk? Because you fool yourselves.

I agree with that! The name was taken from turkish (it has the same meaning in arabic though) but that dessert is popular in eastern countries and its origin is lost over the years!

let's all be honest, every culture has their own spin of this dish. in america they're called donut holes, in japan they're called takoyaki, in greece they're called loukoumades, and so on and so forth for the rest of the world. not one country owns this dish, but a lot have their own version. so can y'all stop acting like your country has copyright?

Loukoumas is the modern name of what was called Enkrides by ancient Greeks, but living for so long with Turks during the four century occupation resulted in many names being changed to what most would understand.

The dessert has been mentioned in Ancient Greek historical scripture by Aristotle as "χαρίσιοι πλάκοι" or "πλακούντες". Kallimahos also called it "honey coin". It's the same exact recipe. The only reason it currently has a Turkish name internationally is because Turks were in Greek land for 400+ years and renamed a lot of recipes and claimed them as their own. The Ottomans came from Mongolian areas while "Loukoumas" is a Mediterranean food.

Louqmiat or Lokma is An Arabic word means Bit or bite this dessert was first made in Iraq then ottoamn and then Greece it's in the name we can all eat it but turkish people fight over things that aren't theirs to begin with
@Wenzy0l
@Wenzy0l 7 жыл бұрын
***** Are you seriously quoting an article written by someone who is probably clueless. You need to give me a history book or something to even considering to believe that. If greeks invented it then why use an Arabic orgin word?? Because it's Arabic orgin like most turkish and Greek dishes that belong to Arabs or other middle eastern semites civilizations. ..
@Wenzy0l
@Wenzy0l 7 жыл бұрын
***** Two totally different things my friend Alexanderia was believed to be founded by Alexander the Great hince the name. But just use your brain why would ancient Greece use Arabic word for a dish they ate or invented?? The name didn't change because that is what Arabs called and then ottomans took it and then the Greeks otherwise it would be called by Greek word don't get me wrong ancient Greece is powerful and had influenced many things across the middle east and vice versa. I didn't ask you to read I said if you wanna proof something ancient then back it up by something written by historian at least. I agree with you when it comes to turks they like to claim everything that was orginally found in the middle east. But Loukmiat is Arabic recipe that's why it has Arabic name the name speaks for it self it you should accept it and enjoy it
