It’s time to share REAL pants. The real deal friends, no more muslins and this is Reveal Week of the Let’s sew easy pants mini series. I will share several pant videos this week!
Today I’m sharing another pair, and this time, using a FREE sewing pattern from Peppermint magazine. The pattern is made by the brand Common Stitch in collaboration with the magazine. It's free to download and they suggest a voluntary donation of $AU 2.
I am sharing tricks on the pockets, sewing footage and fit adjustments that were needed to get the fit I wanted. Another practical video applying all the content in this series.
Catch up on the Let’s Sew easy pants miniseries:
• Let's sew easy pants! ...
Loungewear Set from Peppermint magazine:

Specifics:
*Bubble crepe
*Size E (I was between size F and G)
*Added 1” to the front rise
*Added 1.5” to the back rise
*Added 8” to the length of the legs in 2 different areas
*Transformed the 2 pocket pieces into one to avoid a pesky seam
*Pieced the pocket piece
Helpful videos:

DISCLAIMER: I purchased the fabric for this project. The Pattern is free and I donated the $AU2 suggested. There is no link between this channel and the pattern brand. This is not a collaboration or sponsored post. The Let's Sew easy Pants series has been produced independently (by me!) from the pattern the brands mentioned.

These are my favourite pants to sew, I have also add length and made full length pants which are very in now. I use linen, cotton/linen blends for casual pants and I omit the pockets and make pyjama pants using the same pattern I just pin the pocket to form and continue the side seam on fabric. They are such a quick and easy sew. Great video

I think I’d make them in linen with the cropped version. But for full length, I like flowy.

Between 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch in imperial is 3/8 inch. You are so good at the conversions, it's a comfort to those of us who aren't, that there is one you can't do so easily. It's a difficult one, anyway, because the number under the slash (I forgot, is that a denominator?) is different in each measurement. Your explanations of everything are very helpful, much appreciated.

I recently made similar pants for my daughter and myself, a first. Your fitting tips reminded me to use 2 different size range patterns so I have cut each differently w notes right on each pattern for the next pairs (hers with a pink heart) and I don't have to start over fitting. She is 4 hrs away☺

I watch a lot of your videos and I know you say you have to lengthen pants, but since I am petite I just think okay but she is tall. However, 8 inches is a lot! I may have to lengthen this pattern. I also don’t like ankle length pants. I think it makes me look shorter and I don’t need help looking shorter.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 3 жыл бұрын
These are meant to be short originally so if I’m tall, it means a lot of extra length :)

Really nice! My mom loves pants like this and I have a black and cream bubble crepe that would be perfect for her. My thighs are too round for thin drapey pants like this but I'm looking forward to making some for her.

Maybe you can try a rayon twill. That is heavier but still drapes amazing. Same as tencel twill. I’m sure your mum will love them. My mum loves this style too.

Thank you for all the insights you share so generously. I am currently working on a pants block. Lots of tweaking needed. First wearable version will be a flowy widelegged version like the one you’re showing here. Only going to make a flat front and elastic only in the back. Your series together with more indepth fitting help from Alexandra Morgan are helping me to finally get pants to fit me. Again thank you for your encouragement. 💕

If you make wide legs pants hit the floor with heels on (hem them with heels on) they can actually make the legs look a tad longer. Also, a solid color will give that effect too. I will be using these again and slimming down the leg a tad too, not to make them fitted, but just a tad narrower.

These are from the Loungewear Set that was recently in Peppermint magazine. I was wondering how many inches you had to add for your height? We are close in size. I always have to add, especially now that a lot of pants are worn shorter than I would wear them. Also, I was wondering if you made the top that was in the set? I printed both out and the top looks pretty short to me. Thanks for all you do. :)

I don’t understand why you are telling me the name of the pattern I made? I even showed the website of where the pattern is found for free. You will find the answer to every single question in the video (even with a graphic). I discussed all those aspects in detail and even the fact that I don’t intend to make the top. Did you watch the video at all? Also, I write every detail in the description box of the videos too, so that it’s easy to find.
