I know that this is normal for otters to teach their pups to swim... but wow... it is quite a shock to witness it myself. Wasabi and namida mmust had quite a shock. 😅😅😅 Fight kids!💪💪💪💪
@Soufriere843 жыл бұрын
It _is_ crazy the first time you see it. I first saw it over on Otter's Home (Baby Mocha is 2½mos older than W&N), and my face went 😮😳 when Papa-Dolce literally grabbed his daughter and forced her underwater in a basin. He did it AGAIN a month or so later when Mocha became interested in the deep-pool. She passed the training. No doubt Wasabi and Namida will too.
@naidamar13 жыл бұрын
I've seen plenty nature videos on how mother otters drag their babies and push them underwater mercilessly in the deep water. Wasabi and Namida have it easy, the tub is not deep at all and their mum and auntie are not that sadistic lol.
@Soufriere843 жыл бұрын
@@naidamar1 I had wondered how Odashi would act, whether she would stay completely out of the way, take the "father" role and help out, or go overboard just like she did when she made herself a wet-nurse. She is definitely not as sadistic as Dolce & Latte were to Mocha, and _that_ was nothing compared to the wild.
😂😂 Poor Wasabi! She was like "Awwwww, hell naw! Get me out of this water!". Though both were afraid, Namida was more agreeable. Glad you stepped in to give her a little break. Thank you so much for the information at the beginning of this video explaining how they behave in nature when it's time for the babies to learn to swim. It kept my "mothering anxiety" in check! LOL 💜💜💜
Thank you for warning us! I noticed that the water level was lower so they could stand up without getting their faces wet, that was a smart thing to do. They will love swimming soon.
Awww , That was so cute how momma and Auntie were working together to show them and keep them safe. So Amazing to watch them grown and learn. I can’t wait for them to love swimming! . Thanks you 🙏 so much for sharing this Journey. It is pretty special to be apart of these two babies from birth . This is better than any National Geographic Documentaries 😀🙏👍

Oh wow!!! That was so lovely. I know the pups seemed a bit freaked out, but they were safe. Odashi and Otsuyu exchanged many knowing glances, like they remembered their first times and understood. Namida's post swim scowl says it all! ❤️❤️❤️

I wonder if Otsuyu knows that Namida is the more outgoing of her children, and that’s why she chose to put her in the water first. Wasabi seems to be a little more cautious, and she seems to follow Namida’s lead. (Gotta admit, everyone loves Namida because she’s such a little champ, but I have a real soft spot for Wasabi.)
@Soufriere843 жыл бұрын
Weirdly, Loutre-mama suggested the opposite when someone asked her on Instagram what the pups are like. She said (in English), "Wasabi is like Odashi. Namida is like Otsuyu." We know Otsuyu is quieter and kinda neurotic. Wasabi is _definitely_ the more vocal pup.

@@Soufriere84 Interesting! I look forward to seeing their personalities blossom. :)

@@Soufriere84 that wouldn't be the opposite , it would be what the comment said You just confused the meaning Vocal doesn't mean outgoing wasabi is like her aunt easygoing and namida is like mom know what she wants and is gonna get it ... outgoing. There now I hope that's clear lol 😂
@justicebeginstoshine80693 жыл бұрын
@@jennifersaar1611 lol did she agree with you or not , she basically said that that the pets owner said the same thing , but then gave her interpretation nod the otters and confused everything , oh well just found it very odd .....🙄🤦 Ugh KZbin

@Justice begins To shine I’m just acknowledging that the babies are still young and that the vids show just the tiniest sliver of who they really are. It’s hard to judge their personalities on that basis, but fun to speculate.

Congratulations to Namida (first again) and Wasabi on their first swimming lesson!! 🥰🥰 🎉🎊 Also, thank you Loutre-mama for the disclaimer at the beginning. Many regulars understand this IS how river otters train their pups to swim, but newcomers may not and you don't deserve to be attacked for letting Otsuyu be a mom.

Yep. It's a pattern now. 😂 Namida is 3hrs younger and still smaller than Wasabi but… 1st to open her eyes, 1st to feel anger, 1st to poo on her own, 1st to get a swimming lesson, she'll probably be the first of the twins to eat solid food too.

Even though they’re not in their natural habitat it has been a pleasure watching these babies grow, and watching how Mom & Aunt interact with them. I also love how you let them raise the babies how they WANT TO based on THEIR instincts and not based on what you think is best. These animals are incredibly smart and they know what’s best for their young. I haven’t had any luck of watching these guys in the wild raising their young, so I’ve been loving your channel. And glad you explained how Mom’s train the babies to swim in the beginning, as hopefully it’ll keep all the “professionals” quiet.. lol. Love your videos, keep them coming!
