The movie was a spoof on War and Peace. This scene takes from the most important part of the book. The main character, Pierre Bezukhov, inherited a great deal of money. But it didn't bring him happiness. The passage I point out, is when Pierre tells someone that he is miserable and then the man says to him. "I have heard of you. Look at your life my dear Sir. How have you spent it? In riotous orgies and debauchery, receiving everything from society and giving nothing in return. You have become the possessor of wealth. Have you ever thought of your tens of thousand of slaves? You have profited by their toil to lead a profligate life. You have thrust your wife into an abyss of deceit and misery. A man offended you and you smote him and you say you not know God and hate your life. There is nothing strange in that my dear Sir." And then the man does a 180 and changes his life.

In truth bullets don't come straight down due to the laws of physics (rockets never go straight up). He was would have been safe standing still.

Woody Allen is to Film making what Jerry Seinfeld to stand up comedy, Bob Dylan to songwriting, Frank Sinatra to singing: good, but hugely overrated.

Which says much more about you than Woody Allen. You allow your judgement to be affected by allegations and gossip. You clearly belong to the "no smoke without fire" and "sling enough mud and some of it will cling" school of law. Show some intelligence and thoughtfulness before rushing to judgement. I for one do not think there has been credible evidence. The letter from Moses Farrow alone should be enough to make you reconsider the position. If you say you cannot watch Woody Allen movies anymore then I trust the same is true of Mia Farrow's work, given that she too has been accused of sexually molesting her children. I have been disgusted by the attitudes of some of the actors who have worked with Allen, in particular Kate Winslet's foul- mouthed outburst - how dare she, how fucking dare she.

​@@poetry7260 Sorry to impute the wrong reason. I personally enjoy many of his films of all shades, with the lesser known Interiors being a firm favourite. Geraldine Page's performance should have garnered the Oscar for Actress - she lost out to Jane Fonda in Coming Home.
