Mrs Paula, you can save your lettuce & bread. Just push all the meat to one side and use some paper & tongs to collect the grease. It works well

Mmmmm. Haven't had sloppy joes in years and years! I remember way back when, I had these for my maybe 9th or 10th birthday party -- had to have potato chips with this and on just a regular ole hamburger bun. The Good old days. Good dish for a cold winter day. Hope everyone in the Northeast is safe and warm!

No matter the recipe, I always drain cooked ground beef. Always way too much liquid and fat to ruin any recipe. I've also noticed that lately, even the leanest beef/fat ratio exudes quite a bit of fat/liquid. Not really sure I believe the labeling anymore.
@Jude300c3 жыл бұрын
Alot of the beef has just water in it. Same with ground chicken and turkey.
@stacey59253 жыл бұрын
@@Jude300c Yes. I know. All that liquid can make a recipe too watery and loose if you're trying to achieve a thick hearty chili, meatloaf, goulash or whatever.

I always drain my grease off hamburger meat using a colander in a bowl to keep the grease from going down the drain which could cause the drain to stop up. Once the grease is cold in the bowl, it can be scraped into an empty can and put into the trash.
