This was a more polite time. Who knows what would come out of people’s mouths now. There was more nuance and mystery in the privacy and lack of social media, which is why hearing how things went on these dates was more interesting. I think this would be considered too boring by todays standards. There has been so much reality TV seeing everything about so many people’s lives that this would be slow paced and tame. I always liked it and and have not watched reality tv beyond the commercials, but todays younger generations would mostly find this boring.

I used to love watching this show daily back in the 80s through the 1990s. I even used to watch it while my mom was cooking in the kitchen. The most interesting dates were the bad ones! They were hilarious! The good dates were predictable and boring. This show would never last today. With all of the gender confusion, immorality, feminist politics, hate, and cancel culture it would be all trouble and negativity. The 1980s and 1990s were much simpler than the fuckin' hot mess that we are dealing with today.

Here is the thing, it was semi scripted and also edited. I remember after our date I got a call from this woman that started to ask me question after question, like "what is it about women that you do not like--or something like that" then all I said very innocuously, well i do not like how women drive and then it turned into some kind of theme like woman are bad drivers thing, so they turned it into a talking point. Olinda was a great driver. In fact, we went to Vegas, she drove and her driving skills were outstanding. I was like 26 years old having a good time. The producer lady was pining me down and then it became part of the script. Looking back on it I see what they were doing but I was just trying to get along to go along. That woman made it a big part of of the opening. and Chuck would stare right in to my eyes the whole time then glance at a cue card and I was like, "bro, cant we just talk about the date". He was going off the cue cards he was reading from, I noticed him reading the cards in real time and then he would follow the instructions and then stare into my blues eyes for my comment!! get it? There was much more that I said that day but it got edited out which is fine. Olinda was awesome, she was a great snow skier too, very athletic. I still have that tie!
