This was a great reaction and the thing that I love about CHVRCHES is that they can take a Kendrick Lamar song and make it into their own. This song sounds like an actual CHVRCHES song. Lauren is so beautiful and is an extremely talented singer.

One of the best Songs they did, and from my pov the best Cover they did. You need to know the original to really notice what they did there

Great reaction. Everything Chvrches does is awesome. Love that you brought up the Strange Advance comparison. Strange Advance is one of my favorite groups. Ahead of their time. Newest album actually has a couple songs that could have been from the 80's and a remake of one that was. :)

Thanks for doing that guys , it shows a slightly different side of the band, and just how good Lauren's voice is. As good as their original stuff is they have made some great covers, and always find a way to put their own spin on them.

Love it as always guys, for a bit of reshuffle on Chvrches I’d recommend Under the Tide

I’m not familiar with this song, but if it was originally a hip-hop song then these folks are geniuses. I would never have known. It’s very pretty. I like the duo. An 80’s tune with a similar synth in the background is a fun little ditty, “Strangers In The Night” by Kim Carnes.

Hey guys, been loving your CHVRCHES reactions so far!! I'd love for you two to react to Wonderland (Moog version). It's a re-work of one of their songs from their third album and it sounds COMPLETELY different from the original in the best way possible.

oh how i love chvrches…. have you done anything by metric on the channel? kendrick lamar is one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all-time, 14-time grammy winner, a lot of social commentary/consciousness in his music. not to be confused with lamar odom, a 2-time nba champion, who was indeed married to khloe kardashian for a number of years and well, that’s enough to say about that…. pura vida, cheers from the mile high city!

This cover is a complete departure from the original which is a hip-hop song. You can't really even compare the two songs, they are so different (other than the lyrics). Chvrches has another "Like a Version" song which you might enjoy. A cover of the Arctic Monkeys song "Do I Wanna Know". This song was a great choice...awesome.

Yep, the original is totally different, even the lrics themselves have changed to fit this version. They cut out half of the verses and changed some of the lyrics. Lauren's a fantastic singer but I don't think we need her rapping on, what is essentially, a love song. They basically watered the song down to make it sweeter and less about 'wordplay' and 'lyrics', it only retains the message.

Isn't Kendrick Lamar one of those current hip-hop/r'n'b/pop guys? Don't recognise the song but it was a great performance. One of the things I really like about Chvrches is their crispy clear synth arrangements. They really emphasize the melodies and, particluarly when it comes to covers, lifts songs I normally wouldn't pay much attention to to a whole new level. Another example of this is their cover of The 1975's "Somebody Else" which I think you'd also enjoy. It's right here if you want to check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXbHg5ujd91rf7c

They also do a great cover of "It's not right but it's ok" by Whitney Huston which is much more like the 80s.
