Love hate Farrow and Ball paint

This is a brutally honest review of Farrow and Ball paint, the things I love and the things I hate.
Spoiler: It's a niche paint that's perfect for the right customer. I'm glad it exists because of the amazing results but it's a lot more work to do so it needs to be a customer who appreciates that.

As just a homeowner having to do his own decorating, I have to say I do not like Dulux (both normal and Trade) at all. I found it needed way too many coats and even more in the spots where you've had to Polyfilla bits. I also found the way the colours changed in differing lighting conditions was just too much and you never really knew what you were going to get. Personally, I've ended up using Crown Elle Decoration which was twice the price (though still half of F&B) but needed half the coats, wasn't as sensitive to Polyfilla and the colour remained consistent irrespective of the lighting. It was also a smoother finish, nice to use and much more resistant to marking in day-to-day use and easier to rub marks away when they do occur.

its a no brainer if you want a farrow and ball colour get johnstones trade may not be the exact match but your be getting a better more durable especially if you go for johnstones trade cleanable matt or ultra last and cheaper

3 coats every time ... especially the woodwork paint ,,, that imo leaves a horrible plastic type finish and will scratch off with a fart
