Art is an essential part of life in Maasmechelen Village. From 24 June until 31 August, Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, is taking over the our shopping boulevard with her colourful ode to fashion, art - and self-love.
As a leading lifestyle destination, Maasmechelen Village works hard to provide guests with a unique and all-encompassing shopping experience that showcases the best the country has to offer. As part of that ambition, the Village regularly collaborates with both up-and-coming and high-profile artists to bring art to the heart of the Village - and closer to the people.
For a brand-new summer collaboration, Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, is taking over the Village with never-before-seen art and a series of interactive installations. Introducing: Love Imperfection by Delphine.
In times of increased negativity and pressure from society and social media, Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, will be using her Village takeover to spread a message of self-love and empowerment.
The theme of the takeover, Love Imperfection, focuses on celebrating uniqueness and individuality, and manifesting love and happiness despite the challenges life throws at you. A powerful message that aims to empower Village guests to embrace everything that makes them unique - flaws and all!
As part of her Village takeover, Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, has created a brand-new custom artwork. The cheerful statement heart pattern in the artist’s signature colourist style was specifically designed to speak to guests of all ages.
“I’ve been working with the love theme for quite a few years already, but this is the very first time I used hearts in an art piece. I wanted the art to be as accessible as possible for everyone - even two-year-olds. The goal is for people to see the hearts and colours and just feel cheerful and optimistic.”
The art takeover by Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, is centred around three brand-new custom art installations, including a larger-than-life wishing tree, a funhouse mirror installation, and a spectacular transformation of Manneken Pis into ‘Delphineken Pis’. The installations were designed to inspire guests to love life - and to reflect on their own self-image.
“Maasmechelen Village is a destination where people come to shop and enjoy the finer things in life. As an artist, I think it’s interesting to put a message of self-love and embracing imperfection right at the heart of a location where people may come to shop for things that make them look or feel more perfect. It’s a wonderful tension to play with.”
