Not a couple, but an unmarked quest in Morrowind has you running errands and doing favors for Khajiit woman named Ahnassi in Pelagiad which eventually leads you to becoming her "special friend" so she says. One of my favorite unmarked quests in the series.

I think it's kinda funny how most games that only have a single "love interest" will have them be a very generic sort of character, typically a blandly attractive human or elf, but Morrowind has a Khajiiti thief.

I've personally being trying to actually play Morrowind for years. I had a copy on the Xbox when I was like 6 or something but the game was a little complex. Fast-forward in highschool I bought it and since then for like 10 years I think I've given it a shot every so often but could never get hooked on it because of the combat and slow movement speed and being required to read all the time. The game really requires a level of patience and interest I just didn't have, but I got longer and longer play thoughs in. This time a little over a week ago I finally broke that barrier to entry and have spent most of my time playing, I beat it the morning of the 12th and I gotta say, what a great game. I know everyone who plays it loves it, but I didn't fully understand of course. Morrowind makes me long for less reliance on quest markers, a more immersive fast travel system, a less, "you are the chosen one." and more, "you could be the chosen one if you work at becoming them." type story from the elder scrolls 6. Morrowind feels like a game that truly respects my intelligence and wants me to pay attention to it. I can't just run around and be picking up random quests from people talking on the street that goes into my well organized log of quests, if I choose to ask someone about something it goes into my book and if I forget about it I'll have to flip back a million pages to find it again or more likely, find the person again and ask again. I thoroughly enjoy tes 4 and 5 and Morrowind just gave me so much more to love and get lost in. Wonderful game

Barenziah and Symmachus were the OTP imo. RIP Symmachus :( The two Barenziah series and King Edward convinced me that Marylin Wasserman still is one of the best "in-universe book" writers TES has ever had. The fact she wrote all those foundational texts so well when there was not even a game for her to beta test is incredible. Praise be to Mara!

I really enjoyed the relationship between Karliah and Gallus. In the few moments they had to talk to one another in game, it was clear they cared about each other deeply. And their voice actors (particularly Karliah) did a fantastic job.

The Nightingale was a bard. In traditional RPGs, bards fight with their music and charm people with their music. I fully believe that the Nightingale just charmed Barenziah with his music into falling in love with him, and she didn't actually want to cheat on Symmachus. I fully support your idea of making a separate whole video about Barenziah btw, I love her story too. And it's always a pleasure to see you come out with a new video.

This is such an interesting time for elder scrolls fans on KZbin. We have a content creator who's turned skyrim into a straight building with ValePlaysGames. We have someone who's calculating the unemployment rate of each of the cities with Any Austin. We have the crazy amount of creators doing challenge runs of every kind. Thanks for the fun video. Reading "The Real Barenziah" back in Oblivion days, I recall how much I liked the idea of the simple stable boy (Straw) and Barenziah. The two of them adventuring together for survival was more my flavour of romance, although It interests me how I still remember one of her later thoughts about him: "he was a peasant and harboured nothing but peasant dreams". Call me evil, but for what Symmachus did to Straw, I'm very happy for the bad things that happened to him.

They are actually scripted to have a whole conversation sitting next to each other outside the gate I think but you require a mod that alters ai behavior for it to even happen.

I haven't read the Barenziah books in a long time so my memory is foggy on them. I would say Barenziah did love Symmachus, but she might have not been "in love" with him, if you get what I mean. Symmachus clearly loved her a lot more, I mean the guy shrugged off catching his wife in bed with another man. Their relationship worked out in the end, so good for them lol. One of my favorite couples is Talen-Jei and Keerava , the inn owners of the Bee and Barb in Riften. I always do Talen's side quest to help him with his wedding ring lol.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Nels Llendo, the most handsome rogue in Morrowind who even asks the Nerevarine for a kiss if your character is female; what's even better is that, if you accept, the Nerevarine admits in the journal that Nels "was not an unpleasant sort" and was "rather smitten with me". Also, Serana x Dragonborn never happening? Then why does she sound disappointed when told that the Dragonborn is already married?

Did Barenziah really loved symmachus? He died alone, cucked and sad, never failling to his duty. The warmth she felt wasn't love. It was his loyalty. And for him she never had any.

I know it sounds wierd, but hear me out, marriage is the final thing I do when all of the main storylines are done: Dragonborn and Muiri. She literally says "her love and affection" if ahe gives you the ring for killing both of her targets. On top of that Serana lives with them as she becomes bff with DB, and the two girls bond over their past traumas. Dragonborn and Muiri rule the new hold of Granite Hill from Hendraheim, with Serana acting as their Steward. I did like the Rigmor story, but it was ruined for me with the stupid curse bs in Rigmor of Cyrodill.

To be fair, TLD and Serana share a friendship that is rare in gaming in general. These two people going through thick and thin, navigating vampirical politics, dark mazes and and even darker family issues and they talk about their past, tehir struggles, what it means to be a vampire - and a human. And in the end they stay that way, friends, who care and can cout on each other. I do know that the Serana Dialogue Overhaul and many other mods introduce a romance option but the ability to keep things that way, to forster an emotional connection with people not based on their loins but on their convictions, while pursuing a greater good, Athelstan first king of England-style, is a rare bit of extremly well crafted Bethesda writing. Whether it was fully intentional from the start or just a workaround for Laura Bailey not wanting her character to be subtect to TES modders and coomers, we may never know.
