Boney M. is a Euro-Caribbean vocal group that was formed in 1976. I had their greatest hits album. This group had a lot of great songs such as "Daddy Cool", "Ma Baker", "Belfast", "Sunny", "Rivers Of Babylon", "No Woman No Cry", "Brown Girl In The Ring", "Painter Man", "Hooray! Hooray! It's A Holi-Holiday" etc. The videos are quite funny with Bobby Farrell's dancing.

"Boney M - Rasputin" was released on 28 August 1978 as the second single from their third studio album. "Nightflight to Venus" (1978) Written by the group´s creator Frank Farian, along with George Reyam and Fred Jay. It is a song about Rasputin, a friend and advisor of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. The song describes Rasputin as a playboy, mystical healer, and political manipulator. The song rose to the top of the charts in Germany and Austria and went to No.2 in the United Kingdom and Switzerland. It was also another No.1 hit for Boney M in Australia, giving them their second (and last) chart-topper in that country. The other one was "Rivers of Babylon" Suggestion: Some other great songs by Boney M. "Heart of Gold", "Sunny", "Belfast", "Chica Da Silva", "Plantation Boy", "Boney M & Precious Wilson - Let It All Be Music", "I Feel good", "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child", "Ten Thousand Light Years" Thanks Sarah! For "Boney M - Rasputin" video.🙂

Bobby Farrell, the dancer - he doesn't sing, that's actually Frank Farian the producer - died in Saint Petersburg, Russia in 2010. Grigori Rasputin also died there.

Boney M is not a ´real´ music band, but the German songwriter and producer Frank Farian was looking for three women and a dancer in the 70s to perform his music publicly. He himself wrote the songst and sang the male part himself. There are a few reaction videos for the song Rasputin, and the funny thing is that EVERYONE immediately starts dancing along on their chairs at the first sounds of the song ;-)

Boney M. was a disco band produced by Frank Farian that had international success, especially in the 1970s, with songs such as Daddy Cool, Rivers of Babylon and Ma Baker. Boney M. has sold over 150 million records worldwide, including more than 60 million singles. If I'm not mistaken, the contract with the group was limited to a certain period of time. If I'm not mistaken, after the group dissolved, they tried to found a new one, but that was banned because of copyright. The group was brought from Jamaica. Everything else was history. Imagine Frank Faraian went to Jamaica and got some unknown group and signed a temporary record deal with them like Boney M
