I'm sitting here, fresh off a whole lore video about Law of Talos (thanks youtube algorithm!) and I'm beginning to think... did Karl kill her? Is that where the blood comes from in his severed arm when he talked to the castle? It feels like Karl if he liked her, killed her and... maybe not regret it, but have it always haunt him. I'm just speculating, I wasn't there when the tournament was happening, I came in way after.

from what I know or remember, karl killed rachels fiance. rachel would visit karl as a kid in the castle of nations pirates cove when she was younger, soon meeting him again years later when shes older and tells him about how she is fond of him, making karl feel special to her and then i think thats where his infatuation with her started, then buildling up to where he kills her fiance out of jealousy (he had a gun which i think was shot at karls left eye explaining the gray mark) and he wore the fiances coat as a sort of trophy. I think rachel witnessed the murder too late and decided to run away to who knows where

Some say it’s possible Karl may have accidentally killed her, And if that’s true, a bit of Karl’s insanity could come from his inability to reconcile this guilt.

When I was younger, I used to assume Karl killed whoever the gunman used to be with his severed arm. This in turn made Rachel horrified by Karl, causing her to either turn on him in disgust or accidentally kill himself, resulting in Karl further hating humans. Also, I honestly think his eye wound in self inflicted. Look at the three marks over it. Those look like someone's hand clawing at it.
