Apparently, after Eli, Nozomi and Nico graduated, Honoka and the others continued the Idol Research Club but stopped performing as 'Muse'. Rin became the new leader of the group while Hanayo became the president and Maki became the vice-president of the club, giving Honoka and the others the space to focus on the Student Council. In their adult lives, the original members of Muse are still close although they all went a different path. Eli returned to her home in Russia. Kotori moved to London and now works in the fashion world. Umi became a professional archer and later trained in archery. Maki followed in her parents' footsteps and went to medical school but she still plays the piano. Rin and Hanayo remained best friends and went to the same university together. Nico started working for a company. What Honoka does in her adult live remains a mystery.

I don't think so. At her first try, the girls stopped school idol because they weren't motivated that much. Now, with muse, nico had accomplished what she wanted. Muse doesn't have anything left to do and ended up their story in a beautiful way. Because they are school idol and started this club for their school. Because they are friends, had the same experiences together and writed one same story. I am proud of this ending.

The entire point of LoveLive is to show the love and simplicity of all the characters for school idols and the time they had together at school. There is a part in the movie when Future Honk explains to Honk about the girl group she was in when she was younger and that they broke up due to argues about wanting different things of their lives (or at least it was something like that). With μ's it would have been the same thing if they didn't decide to end the group. For them, μ's represented their love to perform as a simbol of their friendship and they were not that competitive about LoveLive to begin with, they never tried to be/act professionally, they did it to pure love of doing it. Being a professional idol demands a lot of sacrifices that the girls didn't want to take, they all had different dreams and goals at life. For example, Maki had that whole deal of becoming a doctor when she grows up.
