We have a white sided home with a white wooden barn. Both have black roofs on them. It looks very clean and nice. I then added a splash of color on the doors of my home.

We are headed that way from Idaho. I take down all the shop names from your videos. We plan to spend about 10 days just hitting all the shops in the area. Hope finding hotels will be easy ad we want to move around.

That is awesome! Safe travels! You will want to call ahead on some, like Currys Antiques to shop, they're open for their events and special occasions and by appointment. Same with Hartford House Antiques. Seville Antiques is closed Monday & Tuesday until April 1st. Will you be in town during any of the big shows? Hudson Antique Show is coming up early March!
@SueHays-p4i11 ай бұрын
@Thecapeonthecorner we won't be there until the middle of the month. But thanks for your heads up. We will call ahead. No primitives in Idaho anywhere, so we are very excited.

There is a family here that built their country home which is white and then they put up a metal pole barn which is this amazing red color! It is quite stunning!

What a nice shop. I love all the hogscraper candlesticks and pottery. I would go with red for your building. I have seen metal buildings done in two colors such as red on the bottom part way up and white on the top half. Just a thought.

For the color I would chose a grey to mimic the look of that old cedar siding. 2nd choice brownish tan for earthy look since it's a flower farm. Anxious to know what you will choose. Love that antique store, always appreciate your tour of it. Thanks for the info on hogscrapers.. I love them and have them but was never sure what I was getting. Some dealers are not honest, just want a sale
@Thecapeonthecorner11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the color suggestions! We've made our decision. Now, I'm just waiting on our Amish builders' availability! I truly believe and hope that it's more a matter of just not knowing rather than intentionally wanting to deceive. All the more reason to find dealers knowledgeable in what you're wanting to purchase and ask them questions. Most of us love to talk about our passion. That's why I encourage people to go to shows. Even "high priced" shows. The information, and knowledge you can learn is priceless. Especially when you learn lines, shapes, finishes, marks that are correct, it's much easier to spot them them in the wild! Like my southern bucket bench with the side candle shelf!

I have a large white wood farm house, and I would not do a red barn…the red and white combination reminds me of a bulls eye. We have a beautiful gray weathered tone barn, which I think would look better if you are going with metal. This is a beautiful little antique shop.

Thanks so much for explaining the dry sink. I have seen wash stands with basin and jug etc but never the sinks. As a New Zealander (now living in Australia) I am now completely baffled by the name of those candlesticks!!!😂 Certainly it shows that American artifacts go back much further in time than Australasia's. ❤

First time to your channel. And, you kinda blew my mind with the hogscraper candlesticks. I thought, "certainty she is not saying that"?! The article I found said it was a "Yankee thing" so that explained a bit to my South Carolina ears. My Grandaddy (and pretty much everyone else around here) raised hogs. But, I honestly do not think I have ever seen/heard of such! I have my Great Aunt Ruth's dry sink from the late 1800s, her Mama's, my Great Grandmama Ula's, bedroom suite older than that, many old farm baskets, tools, bowls, dishes, (not worth a lot, but special to me) from our Century Farm (my brother now owns), and he has a number of those old huge stone grinding wheels for sharpening farm machinery blades ... and, he still uses them! I could go on and on ... that shop is like stepping back in time at the farm where I played in the buildings with all of those things and was fascinated even as a child! There are not as many "primitive" shops like that here. The things were either worn slap out and/or the heat and humidity rotted them. If they are truly old, unless they were in a home where they were well preserved, they are just not out there worth selling and are very difficult to find. And, they are soooooo expensive if they are genuine and pristine - like mist in that shop! That was almost like a museum! There are many similar items to those here in the South. It is interesting to see and learn of other items from your area! I enjoyed this video and really wish there was a website to shop! There are no links, and my shopping searches are not opening. I'll be back to watch more! All the best!

If your home is going to remain white, and you are set on a metal-sided barn, I would never go with red---the contrast would be startling! Better to choose a more subdued gray so that it doesn't overshadow the home. Personally, I'd think of using cedar on the most visible side, it would gray to a shade like the gray metal and be a warmer look.

Love the tour of this beautiful antique shop..You stated that they ship, living in Phoenix this would be a perfect, as we have very few true antique shops. It would be so helpful if you could state the prices on the item's you look at, especially the hog scraper's, as I have to travel to New England to find the real McCoys, reproductions are plentiful here in my area. Thank you and even when you travel to Seville Antiques prices would be appreciated too..🌵😉

I love red WOOD barns. I don’t think it would look nice with metal siding. We have a pole barn that is like a country blue with cream light beige trim and doors in white and metal siding. Our house is white brick on front and one side. The other side and back have light beige vinyl siding and black shutters. I just added my garden she shed with beige vinyl siding, black shutters and white trim and white door. I really wanted red but I’m glad my she shed matches the house. I guess I could of had my door painted red, but it was an afterthought. We’ve had our pole barn up since 1993. Still looks great. ❤️😘🤗💕
