A clever play on words, the Chimella is shaped like an umbrella and is inserted into a chimney to block off the flue. This then blocks off any drafts, making the home more energy-efficient as well as preventing any debris or animals from entering the fireplace. Touker excitedly claims he loves everything about the brand, but what exactly is a brand?
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

A great big thank you to all the great comments about my day in the Den and just to let you know that we have been crazy busy ever since. The show was a great experience and although we did not get investment all the dragons were impressed by chimella.. We actually showed on air the day the government announced lock down and the global pandemic was definitely not in the business plan. All our exhibitions came to an abrupt stop and manufacturing came to a holt. We were however very lucky to have been involved with the government over the last few years and Chimella was awarded a large contract from OFGEM and sponsored by Eon as part of the ECO3 innovation trial to help people in fuel poverty with warmer homes and save on their energy bills. The fantastic chimella is growing from strength to strength and by sticking to my ethics that sustainability is about manufacturing a quality product that last for years rather than go cheap and keep replacing is standing us in good shape for the future. Never Give Up people and let the nay sayers fuel your passions.

@@10ksubsnovideos14 many thanks for your comment. My vision of sustainability is manufacturing a product that is strong durable and last for years. Cheap products designed for lasting just outside of the warranty to give more resells for the retailers give no customer satisfaction and cost more in the long run. This is also the biggest factor in our climate issues with over manufacturing and our throw away society. Chimella is not like an ordinary umbrella and can operate over 12000 applications and estimated life span of decades not years. Its built to last. Over its life time it will also save thousands of pounds in wasted heat loss so against its life time savings it is one of the greatest pound per saving product on the market. All the best

Isn't it ironic, that whenever Deborah wants specific figures and percentages from someone, she gets rather uppity when those figures aren't forthcoming, but when questioned by Simon about how many people actually block off their unused open fires, she completely failed to back herself up with any figures, ending up with egg on her face at 5:40 in the video.

The dragons shut him down the moment he said how much it retails for. And with an upside down umbrella, getting the price down so people impulsively buy 4 of them would be such a good pitch. Chimneys normally - or should - have dampers inside them (which are essentially like rough valves) to control the draft acting on the fire. This is what that mysterious chain or lever hidden somewhere around the hearth is for. These should normally be kept closed during warmer weather of when the fireplace not used. Dampers go from fully opened (maximum draft) to "almost" closed (minimum draft) I think this is just one of those things that are not used properly or that people generally are not aware of. Even something as simple as making a fire can have subtleties hidden and can almost be an art depending on the fireplace system and all the variables involved...

I grew up in an old terrace with two chimneys and 4 fireplaces. When we weren't using the fire, we stuffed the chimney with a bin bag full of old crunched-up newspaper. Not the most elegant, but it did the job, fit any shape of chimney and cost virtually nothing. True, it was messy to remove but then fireplaces are full of ash and soot so there was no extra cleaning overall. I like the product, but the price just doesn't work

He should have done his own survey or something to gauge the market size himself. That's his job. Also, it's a hard one to form a marketing targeting strategy for. Not impossible though. Hi Boor thanks for your comments. Unfortunately chimney balloons have many problems like causing damp in chimneys..deflating and falling out and they do not last. Chimella is designed to be used every day and takes only a second to install and remove. It also collects the dirt. It also is a huge insulater because it uses air physics to turn the air around in the canopy and sends down draughts back up the chimney. The balloon actually causes damp because it stops cold air and warm air movement.

@@venusleoz826 No it isn't lol. Safety-wise it is good but practically is isn't. Ballons lose air and ballo s aren't as strong as you think. And the ones that are would give you a different type of fire that you wouldn't want to smell in your home lol
@venusleoz826
@venusleoz826 2 жыл бұрын
@@vids2002 eh...If it has lost air that is not a big issue, just replace it with a new one and you do not light a fire WITH the balloon inside the chimney, you just have it there when you are NOT using the fireplace and when you are going to use it, you take the balloon OUT.
@vids2002
@vids2002 2 жыл бұрын
@@venusleoz826 I only mentioned it IN there because the OP said about how it was no big deal if you accidentally used it WITH IT IN THERE. Obviously with anything IN the chimney you would take it OUT before using. Also, using multiple Ballon is an obvious remedy to the lost air problem but that is like using fiction a flat instead of buying a new tire lol. Yeah, it may be the cheaper solution but the easier one would be buying the item that stops all the issues. If this item was like 25 instead of 75, the better option is this over multiple balloons, that would form right, and would keep popping/deflating. And if this product stayed at 75, the cheapest option is pay a few more bucks and get a permanent fixture that opens and closes

A great idea that the ‘government’ might adopt to help against over use of energy, thus helping to fight global warming, if what we the people are causing, against volcanoes, forest fires, industrial pollution, air pollution from aircraft, weather interference from countries using such methods, rather than blaming wood burning stoves over natural pollution as mentioned above. Worth a punt as a small but positive addition to our toolbox.

What an absolute geezer. You can just tell this guy loves to get on the packet from those opening lines, "Wild by name, wild by nature" Great product, great invention however he is only catering to a very minor market, the middle and upper class homeowners with large detached homes, 5/6 bedrooms with an actual fireplace. For instance, the majority of homes in London, per say, will not have fireplaces. But either way, I'd love to sesh it with this guy. All the best, Mr Wild!

If a chimney is permanently blocked, is it still called an open chimney? I would wager not. Also what Peter did was dishonest. Escape the 9 million chimneys, cut it down to 10% and says that's the market, then ask how many of those would actually do this. Well he's discounting the market. Twice. That's not honest.

tbh I think that's the realistic number. How many of chimney owners would actually buy this... for 75 pounds... let's be realistic... the market is there but it's not a large one... p.s. I would definitely not buy one... may be give it as a present for Christmas for someone I don't really care... a few thousand of those per season at best, that's about as well as I can see it going.

Peter is correct. Marketing generally only reaches about 10% of the market, and then you'll get about 10% of those who actually purchase. And that's if you're lucky. These are pretty standard figures in business.
