I’ve loved Led Zeppelin for 50 or so years, this is the most amazing debut album ever, & only together about 2 months when they recorded it. First rehearsal was on August 19,1968, recorded this in October in total 35 hours, & released on January 12,1969.

I saw Led Zepplin play, two days before their first album was released. They blew the roof off the house! Ironically, the concert was headlined by Vanilla Fudge. Best concert I ever saw, and I was 18 then! Peace out!

When I was 12, my 14-year-old brother, introduced me to Led Zeppelin with communication breakdown. That was his favorite song. He never really got into zeppelin, but I was a major fan. A short five years later, I found myself at the forum, sitting seven rows back from the stage, watching Led Zeppelin perform the Physical Graffiti tour and then again the Presence tour. Long live Led Zeppelin..

This is the first song I ever heard by Led Zeppelin. Heard it on the radio when it first came out in America, loved it, and I started looking for albums right then! Got that first album, which started with Good Times, Bad Times, couldn't believe it was so good, and that was it for me! One of my all-time favorite rock bands...was then, still is today, all these years and years later! Thanks for the video, and great reactions! God bless you!

I’m glad to hear you say that you want to go back and listen to the full album in one sitting! That is exactly how the band expected it to be played (consumed). Designing the sonic and textual flow of two sides of an album was an art form in itself. And some bands were better at it than others. In the digital streaming world of today the song stands on its own. So, I’m encouraging you to do it; listen to the album in one sitting.

If you want a good companion piece to Led Zeppelins first album, listen to Jeff Becks "Truth" album. Both of the ex-Yardbird guitarists formed hard rock blues-based bands in 1968. The "Truth" album features Rod Stewart on lead vocal and Ronnie Wood on bass. Beck's album and Led Zeppelins debut came out within weeks of each other (Beck's was first). They are stylistically similar, and they both feature the song "You Shook Me".

But there are a couple of lighter moments on it as well. Your Time is Gonna Come is a great one as well as Babe I’m gonna leave you. Spot On man, us old timers keep bringing that up and for good reason, if these modern listeners just put down the cell phone for 45 minutes and listen to Abbey Road, Dark Side of the Moon, or Days of Futures Past, they would know exactly why it is by far the best listening experience. We were beyond spoiled compared with those listening in this century, not the last.

A banging rave up of a rocker, it was hard charging and contrasts nicely with the blues to follow on the album. Every song of their is worth a listen, studio or live, they never let you down! Also do Good Times, Bad Times from the other side if you have not, it is a similar banger. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Even in this early music we can hear during Jimmy's lead where he hangs around a certain key for a couple of notes that both complements and almost changes the nature of the chord progression to the listener's ears before returning to the dominant progression.

This is a clever piece of work, because to keep the rhythm going naturally, the signature lead guitar riff should cut in a fraction sooner after the bass stanza, but they deliberately hold it for a second to create a slightly disjointed effect, reflecting the song’s theme…a “Communication Breakdown.”
