This backplate is a trade off. Your APU temps will go down, but the temps on other components will go up. In some cases, 9 degrees higher than stock. The metal plate blocks one of the primary air channels. You can see this in other videos where people use thermal imaging to check temps across the entire board.

The backstory is that it took so long to ship that I ended up with all these accessories I had to make videos about. But I was also super excited about this mod. Love me some RGB 🥳

Hi, may I ask if how's your steam deck? Is it really heat up the other components? I'm planning to buy it but I'm a little bit hesitant because of the issues. Great content btw & I Hope you reply. Thanks 🙏

I accidentally removed the protective film on the RGB battery itself , so far though I have no issue on the steam deck. Is it ok that I took it off?

I don’t think so! Lipo batteries a pretty fiddly. And generally if you mess with them they start degrading. You’ll have to check on it and if it starts swelling, remove it immediately. Otherwise just ask JSAUX where to get another one (generally they can’t ship lipos.

@@adinwalls can Kaplan tape help? So far it’s been about 10 months since I put my RGB backplate on my LCD steam deck and still haven’t noticed any issues with the battery swelling or battery life depleting on the motherboard of the RGB lights.

Kaplan tape could work but I don't think you need to worry too much.

I tried the original and the new style and it definitely makes a bit of a difference! The old version's plate got SUPER hot to the touch. Cryobyte33's videos were super helpful. ^_^

Okay cool. Ya this new one still gets pretty hot, drawing the heat away from that CPU. But I think that direct vent to the fan gets some good cool air in. It’s a bit of a brute force solution but it works. Very similar to how my laptop is cooled. Just vents everywhere.

@@adinwalls The old one gets so hot, that I'm surprised they sold it at all. This new vent and thermal pad placement really make a difference.

👍👍👍 Guess Im in the minority but Ive never been a fan of clear shells but I do like the idea of any lower temps things like this may offer… if indeed they really do. If only there was a black one 😁☺️

Pretty sure there are other brands who offer this.
