Also not sure if anyone else pointed it out but Geoff doesn’t blink once after he turns into a 🧟♂️ adds to creep factor along with his Vincent Price-esque monologue.

The bit where Geoff rises up like from a coffin involved MANY more takes than anyone expected. Layne and Cesar were working together to push him up and something kept going wonky: either they would joke around and make him laugh, or they would accidentally push too hard and launch him forward a few steps, or he would grin too much because it was just fun. It's definitely worth watching the BTS for this one!

@@ShyAnn291the BTS is available at the lowest paid tier. I think $5. Well worth it imo. There's another a cappella group I follow but you don't get their BTS until the $30 tier.

Hooray! More VoicePlay! Their Thriller is so fun! Kathy looks unrecognizable as "floor zombie." Thanks for this reaction & analysis! Those are Layne and Cesar's hands about to take Geoff down. They are the ones who helped raise him back up too.

Happy you enjoyed the video! I figured that was Kathy who played the Zombie and Layne & Cesar playing the dead hands 😂I will agree that Kathy looked unrecognizably creepy!

They spent a whole day on make-up and filming this video, something like 16-18 hours if I remember right. And the very next day they, along with some family members, joined J. None for his own video (x Stefan Salters) called TGIF Slide. You see them dancing in the background, not singing. A wonderful and joyful video

Nice! Thanks for sharing what you knew about their makeup process. That time checks out too considering all of the details that went into the facial aesthetics.

I love the heartbeat both in Geoff's initial bass in the beginning and with Layne's soft percussion...subtle but so effective! Eli and J do such a great job, and Geoff doing Vincent Price's thing it amazing!! This whole thing is sooo entertaining! They did do the "thriller" monster hands from MJ's video when they do the thriller chorus for the last time, and listen more closely to Geoff's bass line when he's doing the bass guitar line! You asked, "Why you gotta trap J. None like that?" I can tell you it's because they want to keep him forever!!!!
@JeffreyHackReactsКүн бұрын
Haha! You have a great point regarding keeping J. None forever 😂 After reacting, I went back to look at a few moments and found that they did in fact do the signature Thriller dance.

I love Voiceplay whether they are going full on theatrical or not. This one could not have been done any other way. Thanx for sharing the extra analysis!

The comments are turned off unless in a reply. Kathy Castelluci is the zombie on the floor. Gruesome Greta got kicked. When Jeff goes down he says " die.......l". Tiny l at the end. Layne has a carrot through his head because he is the carrot lord. More info on this can be found on Huldra Draco's channel. She has all info and lots of extras regarding VP and Geoff.

I was about 18 when MJs original came out & have to confess, it never worked for me. Was more of a Rock fan. So when this was announced over at patreon l was like: Meh, okay, it is Halloween, this fits the spooky season, but most likely it will be a one & done for me... Boy was l WRONG! Suddenly this song l always switched the radio station when it came up, WORKS for me. I have heard it more often then the original by now! I even got back to MJs version to see, if my taste changed that much, but nope, still not my cuppa... The video is shock full of tributes to the original video and enriched with the VP creativity we Voiceplayas so love. Of course Geoff took up the narration part of the late great Vincent Price (the best part of the original imho) and l think he made him proud without blinking an eye (literally!) Thank you for this fun reaction 😉

Thanks for sharing your honest opinion on the original song & VoicePlay's version. I also really admire the way VoicePlay recreated this Halloween hit! Yes, Geoff's narration part was perfect! It honestly couldn't have been anyone else with the tone of voice he has.

I was about 22 when Thriller came out...I wasn't into it at the time either, mostly because I was a full time Minister of Music and I wasn't *supposed* to like it. I lost the stick up my butt in the intervening years and can see it for the fun it was...although I was always much more into stuff like James Taylor. EVERYTHING VP does is awesome to me! They are literally my favorite group. I've been in many a capella groups and have been very involved in theater too, (writing, acting, directing, costuming) in the intervening years and I understand their love of doing it just because it's so fun, and I so admire them for staying independent and doing EXACTLY what they want without being ordered by some studio exec somewhere to do something they aren't interested in. I had ONE chance to sign with a label, but they wanted me to change everything about me...obviously, I refused.

@@JeffreyHackReacts These guys are insanely talented and have phenomenal vocal ranges. Geoff and Layne, from what I understand, have very nearly the same range, Eli has covered the bass line in some songs when Geoff was singing lead and Cesar (the baritone) hit the high note in their cover of Dream On. From what I understand, when Layne began learning to beat box (when Scott Porter left the group) Geoff helped him to learn. Geoff is also a multi instrumental musician. Combine that with all of the bases that they cover in their own productions. It's just insane the amount of talent they have.

I'm still trying to decide if the first two evil laughs are Eli instead of Geoff. Definitely Geoff at the end but we've heard Eli do an evil laugh before. (Mission: Jingle Bells, maybe?) Love Geoff's bass but got to give props to Eli as a voice actor. Took me several viewings to realize that's Eli doing the voice of Sandy Claws in Oogie Boogie's Song.

I’ll be honest, they sound great but this video wasn’t my favorite. I like certain things like I always love to hear Cesar sing and he’s always fun to watch, and Geoff did good with the narration part, I don’t know what it is that makes not as good as some other ones (MY OPINION)
