I have the Douk One Little Bear and I love it. This one looks even better. Like I always say, you had me at VU Meters!

I agree, there's something about VU meters that just makes a system feel special.

Luv watching those needles dance to the beat.

Yes that’s the whole point I think

Thanks, a speaker switch box has been on my wish list, but I am waiting for one with meter lighting that is close to Emotiva blue. Perhaps Douk will come through with that "blue" model
@TheBoomerConsumerАй бұрын
I'm not sure Douk is going to be making a blue light model anytime soon. I am guessing, and it's just. guess, that they are afraid of a lawsuit from McIntosh

Hello Sir! Can you make a video on how you actually connect it to your stereo system? Thx
@TheBoomerConsumer9 күн бұрын
Unfortunately the process and time to create that video won’t be worth it for the very small number of people who would watch it.

If this was an integrated amp with a nice phono stage and came in silver, it would sell like hotcakes

Yep, I wish the NAD 3050 came in silver!

It looks like clicking on the Amazon link takes you to the Douk Audio ET30 VU Meter rather than the new model you review.

Thanks for catching that, I'll fix it right away!

To bad they don't have a 19" version
@TheBoomerConsumerАй бұрын
ok I got to know why you want a huge 19" version?

VU meters suck! They are useless. Fortunately that unit does not have VU meters. The meters are labeled 300Watts but does not say at what impedance. But they are likely voltage and not actual power meters either. VU meters were a spec from decades ago and are useless today. They just assured that if it said VU it was consistent with other VU meters. 0 VU is equal to +4 dBu, or 1.228 volts RMS, about 2.5 milliwatts across a 600-ohm load. So 0 VU would be around .2W @ 8ohms. VU also spec'd the needle movement and it was slow! Did not respond to peaks! So this might give you some idea of the power to your speakers. If you can calibrate it to the load impedance. VU meters would not.

they used vu meters those days to master the best audio recordings that have not been beaten yet by modern gear

Relax dude, it's ok, it's gonna be alright.

Lighten up Glenn, it’s mostly for the fun of it!
@glenncurry3041Ай бұрын
@@takeiteasy6154 VU was used for AM radio stations! Professional quality recording meters moved from VU specs to the better Peak sample and hold displays in the '70's when the best stuff was produced. And even back when they were used they were never used as power out displays! 1, 10, 100, 1,000 Watts into some load is meaningless to a VU display. It would peg around 0.2W. If you get a kick out of watching meter needles, I do, knock yourself out. Though I prefer any of my scopes' displays. Or even the SPL/ RTA Ap on my phone. It just does not help our shrinking industry to promote misinformation.

@@glenncurry3041 It also is a switching device. It's just got more bling. Like BoomerConsumer said, "Ligthen up Glenn, it's mostly for the fun of it!"
