Hello! Thanks for the reviews, your videos are great! Are Vanatoo speakers the best in thе price category under $1000(powered speakers) or is there something with a better sound? I'm into clear, well-pronounced, and pleasant vocals with a wide soundstage(Light jazz, light Rock, instrumental music, classical music). I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Nice room tour! Glad to hear you’re into cassettes and cassette decks. I have four including a Pioneer CT F950. Hope you make the jump into moving coil cartridges like a Denon 103 or 103r. Maybe you have an MC phono stage on your Marantz or older receivers? If not, you can invest in a step up transformer (SUT).

I got rid of a couple vintage Tape decks in '21 one a Pioneer CTF650 in need of a belt change. Still holding on to my Kenwood Direct drive, though all cassettes are gone or converted to digital. Note, I never liked the Dolby setting, adding muffling to the tape, yet had to get rid of the hiss. Heads would block up & need frequent cleaning, especially with store bought cassettes.

It is that sweetness, warmth, and silky smoothness that I prefer in vinyl. Digital to me is an approximation without soul: too clinical and robbed of many harmonics present in live and unamplifier music and analog recordings, especially direct to disk pressings. Besides, analog preserves what is below the noise floor.

I am really happy to hear that your wife has improved health! 😊👍 I believe that you will hit 40k subs by December. I do agree with you about the time pressure exerted by some slock-jock marketing personnel to hurry up with the review! Don't let them rattle you, continue to be you, and continue to have fun reviewing. Take the time you need for a good review. I think others would agree to have the quality review rather than what the supplier wants. That's just my 2 and a half cents worth opinion. Cheers! 🙂👍

Thanks a lot for this microphone review and test. I have one myself but haven't done a side by side comparison. It sounds great as long as I don't box in myself too close to my desktop computer and wall, and avoid using too much compression which raises the noise floor. Your comparisons are noticeable but slight. It sounds like the Rhode may want a bit of attenuation in the mud range, and some top end shine.

Nostalgia is probably the only reason to go back to a casette deck. I absolutely understand and encourage that. That said, if you want decent sounding analog, go vinyl. Pre recorded casettes sounded awful, PERIOD. They mostly recorded on bad sounding low bias tapes. FYI, low bias tapes have a light brown appearance as opposed to dark brown to black for high bias. Rarely, you could find pre recorded material on decent tapes. High bitrate MP3 sounds much better than prerecorded music on low bias tapes (most high bias recordings too). I even have a low opinion of all MP3 recordings. The only decent sounding casettes were pretty much ones you recorded yourself on high bias (or better) tapes that are not even made anymore. The only real value to casettes, even back in the day, was recording your friends' albums and cds. Casette taping was the original audio sharing. In that regard, casette taping WAS very useful. Also, old tape decks were very unreliable for long term use. Yes, if you want to get into vintage casette decks, you better be able to tinker with electronics or more likely the mechanical parts. Belts ARE going to crack and break. They are also full of small unreliable mechanical parts. Tape heads break and are hard to replace. Every tape deck I have ever owned has broken at some point. I still use a Technics direct drive turntable I bought in 1981. Every deck I purchased (2) after that have broken. This doesn't include a high quality Walkman that also broke. The big problem here is that new casette equipment sound absolutly horrible. When it comes to casette recording you are stuck behind new crappy equipment and decent old equipment that is guaranteed to break.The only tape format that approached cd quality sound was high feet per second reel to reel. High quality reel to reel operated at 15 inches per second, casette tapes operated at 1.875 inches per second. If you are interested in casette recording, know what you are getting yourself into.

I’d opt for the best OPAMP and biggest power supply. I have an SMSL myself. I consider the true power ( 20-20khz, both channels driven at <1% THD) to be 1/3 the claimed power. That’s 1khz only at 10% on these mini class d amps. I’m using mine in a bedroom system, casual, not critical listening. They do well in that capacity.

How you gonna get motor noise with good direct drive. It’s turning 33-45rpm. Belt drive with the extreme gearing, I guess 1000/1. It’s spinning 1000rpm, the belt drive motor definitely makes noise…..

Yes. If you want to know what these things can really do, hook them up to a pair of decent workhorse speakers ... Heresys or L-100s ... you're in for a real treat. The only thing I would caution you is that, unlike tube amps, Class D amplifiers do not clip gently and they don't like it. They will get very hot and go into protection. So if your music carries a lot of distortion, you will need to get it from the input side, not by overdriving the outputs.

How come no one mentions its inability of current? 🤷🏼‍♂️ It's really not that powerful, because it's not always about watts. You need current as well, and 5 amps on the power supply and we don't know if it's even less on the output stage of the amplifier, isn't really gonna do much for such "high" power.
@michaelcampbell9459
@michaelcampbell9459 15 күн бұрын
they also offer a 48v 10a power supply for more current of which I'm ordering two, one for each amp; I currently have two ZA3 in mono mode with dual 5a and they feed my power hungry Magnepan 1.7i with no problem and sound great...

@@michaelcampbell9459 what's the current capabilities of the output stage? No sense upgrading the PSU if you're still limited by the output stage.
@Douglas_Blake_579
@Douglas_Blake_579 11 күн бұрын
@@dicmccoy According to the "TPA3255 Spec Sheet" (do a search) In the PBTL mode used in these amplifiers the TPA3255 can source up to 17 amps of current. In measurements, I've seen them produce 28 volts RMS across a 4 ohm load... Which works out to 196 RMS watts... or 277 Peak watts at well under 0.5% distortion. That requires a "mere" 7 RMS amps (10 Peak) of current. In anything but the most stupid of situations, these wee beasties will end up averaging about 4 or 5 watts on music -- which is really freaking loud, btw -- with all that extra horsepower available for those big tympany hits or movie explosions. It's unlikely you're going to even get close to their limits in normal use.
@FoodieDrinkie
@FoodieDrinkie 2 күн бұрын
@michaelcampbell9459 There is no benefit in doing this. The 10A supplies are designed to run two amps from one power supply and there is no audible benefit having two of these over having two separate 5A power supplies. I asked Fosi this question as I considered doing this myself.

@@Douglas_Blake_579 I don't know how the V3 mono sounds but i have had the Wiim Amp for a very short time and for me the SQ was really disappointing in my situation/setup (swapping it with a NAD C700). I also compared the Wiim Amp with the the Fosi Audio ZA3 (which also has the same amplifier chip i believe) in combination with a Wiim Mini. That already sounded better then the Wiim Amp. Things really improved when i also added a SMSL SU-1 dac. Now it comes closer to my NAD C700 but the NAD still sounds a bit smoother/tad warmer also.
