from Japan. Thank you for listening to LOVEBITES. First, the origin of their band name. The band name "LOVEBITES" is derived from the song "Love Bites (So Do Eye)" of the American hard rock band "Halestorm". How the band was formed. On July 18, 2015, when DESTROSE went into hiatus, miho (Ba), who was in charge of the bass at DESTROSE, invited haruna (Dr), who had previously left DESTROSE, to start forming a new band. The two listened to the song of asami (Vo) sung on the demo tape of a professional composer, contacted them, and asami joined as the third member. On June 15, 2016, the name of the new band of miho and haruna was announced as "LOVEBITES" and the official website was opened. On June 29th, it was announced that midori (Gt) would join and support guitarist mi-ya (miyako) would join. "Miyako" stands on the right side of the stage, And "midori" stands on the left side. The latest information. Miho, the leader and bassist of this band Announced withdrawal from the band on 08.17.2021. Currently the band is temporarily suspended. Her withdrawal is said to be a fatal injury to the band's dissolution, Most expectation is that if they can welcome a new bassist Their activities are expected to resume.

They play instruments as well....LMAO. You are in for a real treat, they dominate their instruments at a world class level. They are all petite looking models who wear white dresses and high heels (they play in them except the drummer) to stand out and be seen easier on stage. They write all their own songs, music, arrangements and play them LIVE like no other band out there today. Asami/vocals is an ex-ballerina student who was a backup RnB/Jazz/Soul singer who never sang metal till she joined this band. The 4' 9" drummer Haruna is a mini nuke behind that kit, 2 hours and she doesn't break a sweat. The Guitarists are polar opposites Midori/Blond is Flash/Shred Queen (gave up piano and Pharmacy school at 20 to learn the guitar) while Miyako/Black the Harmonic/Tones Melodic Queen is a classical trained pianist since age 3 (with till you see her on the keys) and picked up the guitar at 18 and taught herself to play like this. The bassist Miho is the founder and true metal-head of the band (she recently left for personal reasons) and the band is now getting a new bassist. They play Power, Speed, Thrash, Rock, Prog, Ballads and even classical piano but forget the genre labels these insanely talented women play anything they want and do it to flawless perfection. 50+ song since 2017 and this one isn't in the top 10!!! They were the 1st all female metal band from Japan to play at Wacken Open Air (Mecca of Metal where 100+ bands from around the world play)and also were named best new Metal Band both in 2018. LIVE they are stunning to experience. All female metal bands in Japan go back to Show-Ya in the 1980's so this is the tip of a great J/Metal scene. Pick anything and you will never be disappointed. im kind of mindblown at how good they are. metal is not my kind of music so i am not very educated in it but i could instantly tell that these artists are on a whole other level. im actually really surprised they aren't more known as well. if i had to guess i would say they haven't had good marketing in order to dominate the world of metal. unfortunately in 2021 marketing is pretty much #1 and talent comes 2nd. The crazy thing is that in Japan, the "typical" girl band can melt your face off. If you did several Babymetal reactions, you'll want to dive into the Lovebites rabbit hole. Congratulations on finding the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miho and Miyako have composed most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. and aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and at this point they’ve taken it to another level. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. Miyako is also a professional-level classical concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. I grew up into 70s and 80s classic and punk rock, and like you, I never got into the metal scene like Iron Maiden, Slayer, etc., except for occasional songs here and there that I liked. I like progressive style music, so I started to get into Dream Theater, but once I heard Lovebites first time a few months back, took a couple of listen, and I was completely hooked! I thought maybe I was just being sexist and I was hooked because they were all women. But after trying other all-female bands, now I know it's because of their music and their execution of playing the songs. Maybe you're going down the same path I walked! What you refer to as a girl band is called an idol group in Japan. Idol groups come in many sizes and genres so it can get a bit confusing at first. If someone suggests something and the group isn't labeled an idol group and are from Japan they are a traditional band by Western standards.

Haha, yes, they do indeed play their own instruments and they are incredibly good at it. It's hard to deny their skills, whether you like metal or not. They have no bad songs. Others have already brought it up, but there are actually a lot of highly skilled all-female bands in Japan. Lovebites are part of what has been deemed the girl metal boom. Aldious are pioneers of that current wave. You might want to check out Scrash (live) or Dominator from them.

This is probably the best power metal band on the planet at the moment. I you want to hear the best rock band on the planet check out and Maid DOMINATION live from Line Cube Shibuya. Fun stuff. Band Maid writes their own music. There are a lot of other great all female bands out of Japan.

Well, this IS your typical girl band, like Band-Maid, Nemophila, Bridear, Galmet, Gacharic Spin, Fate Gear, Destrose, and so on. If they don't play their own instruments, they are just part of a band/group/act. Nice reaction, your eyes lighting up: "ow!"

Haha yeah just not the kind of girl band i am used to. Usually when we say girl band and boy band we mean bands like spice girls and backstreet boys. Basically just good singers and dancers that usually dont write their own music or play the instruments etc. This is so cool to watch and cant wait to check out the rest of the bands. Much love

On a more serious note, I hope you were able to see the unique KZbin video of their last concert... Their perfect control. I unfortunately have a bad feeling about their future as a band after the surprise departure at the end of August of their bassist and founder, Miho... Nothing will be like before. Big doubts about the cohesion of the band and the musical orientation... Miyako imposed herself as a composer but Miho also wrote a large part of the songs (often in collaboration with Mao). Fortunately, Asami still writes most of the lyrics! We'll see...

@@katafalkk hahaha because it was in french and i had to use google translate i wasn't sure if it was just a joke or some sexist weirdo xD i was at work during the premier of their new video so wasn't able to record it. because i have only heard one song of theirs i want to record every song i hear so i can see my face after haha. :D yeah sad about the break up hopefully things can move on and they can continue. hoping for the best. much love

@@AggressivelySweet It's a shame you didn't get to see the opening night of their concert on Saturday... It was... fantastic! Perfect control ;)... impeccable individual solos and unisons, more than perfect vocals and a hell of a rhythmic base. The only disturbing element was to see Miho, the bass player, getting high knowing she was no longer in the band... And also maybe the discreet applause of the audience who couldn't get louder... because of the rules imposed by Covid...
