Thank you for this reaction video. Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018. 2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2TYeJ2mYrVqeqs The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2rdpHtsnqySbMU from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXnRfHp7n5Z2g8U, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ2TXohjrtB9ebc They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5aboYSMqpKFhJo; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJikqaN7paqWpNE Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLpaSdnr14d5Y. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4HGYYuBZdGBo7c includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKPQoJ-kaqyrq9U This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn2plp9_bpiJoa8 "Glory to the World" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6itpXdojaqLfpY "Winds of Transylvania" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqSoZYiYlLWdnpo. Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself! You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

You need to hear their thrash. They are metal AF. My favorite band and the best in metal, my subjective opinion. I've seen the Big 4, Ozzy, Maiden, Priest, Motorhead...Lovebites eclipses them all. Check out Set The World On Fire live, The Awakening / Hammer of Wrath live, Thunder Vengeance live 2020...for some thrash bangers. This is the self-titled track to their latest studio album; entire album is fire. Very fast. 🤘

I think you are almost right in your thoughts about what this is about. Yes, it is a judgement day for the band. One-two years ago the bass player (that also was one of the two founders) left and also covid came. And the band was in a hiatus. Did not know what would happen. Then they decided to try again and searched for a new bassist. And this is the first song with the new bass player and also the album has the same name. So, it is judgement day, how is it going to go?

Interesting reaction of yours. Anyway, thanks for reacting to amazing Lovebites and spreading the word because they deserve more recognition. These women are extremely talented, skillful and exceptional versatile musicians. Asami was a R&B, soul, jazz singer before she joined the band. Miho (ex bass player and founder of the band) left in August 2021 and the new bassist, Fami, joined in October 2022 and she’s just 20 yo. Miyako (guitar) is also a concert level classical pianist. So far, their catalog is about 60 songs and their live performances are outstanding.

LOVEBITES is a heavy metal band. They have released about 60 original songs and musical compositions + 3 covers of songs from other bands (2017 - 2023). They mainly play speed, thrash, power, progressive metal. Classical music. Some songs have elements of hard rock and symphonic metal. In March 2020 you checked out LOVEBITES. It was the song "Shadowmaker". But LOVEBITES didn't interest you because you didn't check this band anymore. To understand the meaning of the song "Judgement Day" (and MV), why the ladies wrote it, you need to know the history of the band and what happened to it before the release of this MV (December 2022) and the release of the fourth Studio Album (February 2023).

It wasn't cause I wasn't interested. I honestly forgot I reacted to them already. If I didn't get back to them it was cause I took a long hiatus to take care of my wife while she battled post cancer complications.

@@ShadowRyu I understood you. I'm sorry . 🙏I don't know your musical preferences, but if you decide to continue your journey into the World of LOVEBITES, then you will find many interesting discoveries. These ladies are phenomenally talented and technical musicians. The music of LOVEBITES carries a positive message. I also had a difficult, long period of life (more than 4 years), associated with the illness and death of a person close to me. In the fall of 2020, I heard this band for the first time. The music of LOVEBITES helped me a lot to not get depressed. Wish you luck.

These ladies play a blend of speed-power/thrash/prog/neoclassical metal/metal ballads. To truly witness how talented they are, you should check out their LIVE performances. For something thrashier, I recommend : Set The World on Fire [LIVE from "Ride for Vengeance Tour 2021"] , Break The Wall - LIVE at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020 . For something different and a showcase of their neoclassical metal side : Swan Song [+Chopin Intro] (Five of a Kind, 21/02/2020)

You've found metal perfection....Best and most hard working active Metal band in the whole world. All Glory to LOVEBITES and all my brothers and sisters in The Wolf Pack everywhere. !!! If anyone who's into real metal isn't impressed...they have to be dead inside..lmao They are a gift of light from the Metal Godz, with a wide variety of speed, thrash, power, symphonic, traditional and even punk metal. All mashed into a catalog of already 4 EPs and 4 full studios albums since 2016. Precision, Power and Perfection, a holy trinity of joy.

As has been said, you have reacted to the band, three years ago. You promised then to check out more. Well, you did.. eventually! 🙂 And the good news is that you loved the last song you reacted to. Asami, lead singer, uses very blue contacts on stage and in MV’s. Her eyes are actually dark brown. Her hair is chestnut brown..ish. As you rightly say however, the trick works because she is mesmeric. The headless bassist (sounds well doesn’t it) is 20 year old Fami, a recent recruit to replace the founder of the band who left 18 months ago. She has a channel on KZbin that has 650,000 subscribers. Just search “Fami, Bass, or Alien Alien”. I think as a bassist you will find her covers quite jaw dropping. And kudos for interpreting the lyrics. The first three songs on the album “Judgement Day” (this is the second) deal with the adversity the four original members faced when the bassist left, smack in the middle of Covid. Judgement Day is their way of saying “look, we came out of it and what do you reckon to how we sound now”? Listen to the entire 10 track album to have your jaw literally detached from the top of your skull. I can kind of understand why you don’t remember the reaction, but you said you checked….just not thoroughly enough. A very interesting and thought provoking reaction to the most musically talented band I, as a 63 year old have ever had the pleasure to listen to, including live, in their home city.

M&M are ridiculously talented guitarists (and more) and highly visible of course, but Fami is crushing the bass line (or the 17 or 18 different bass lines she can play simultaneously), Haruna is a little big machine on the drums (that I wish got some solos), and of course Asami is a fantastic and mesmerizing front woman (and her vocal prowess can be clearly seen on the 'E' tracks !)

Absolutely correct on the hardships they just came through, marrige, babies, COVID and then their founding member bassist left the band (the cute girl in the backround, Fami, is new). If you check out any older music you will see the original bassist Miho.

They always (almost always) wear white dresses, heels and looks like ancient Greece goddesses. They always play these amazing solos and almost always these are duoling solos. All their songs are very different, but all of them are perfect. Try their live performances - to me they are even better than music videos.
