interesting point. I think one of the interesting things with Japanese metal groups is the breaking of barriers. As you noted in the past if girls played metal then usually they would have to dress almost like men. Leather jackets rough looking etc they would have to show they were rough and like men just to be accepted almost. Then with bands like "aldious" and "Lovebites' they do the opposite, they deliberately dress feminine. It's a real statement.

My first song from Lovebites, and one of my favourites. Wolfpack forever.

Lovebites are: Miho - bass, backing vocals, bandleader, band co-founder, rock t-shirt collector and general encyclopedia on all things rock and metal. Haruna - drums, inhuman levels of perpetual energy and precision, the also band co-founder. Midori - guitars, backing vocals (the shredder on the right in this video). Miyako (aka: "Mi-Ya") - guitars, keyboards, backing vocals (the shredder on the left in this video). Asami - lead vocals, soul and fire. Continuity note: sometime around late 2018 to early 2019, Midori and Miyako swapped their regular places on stage (possibly to better accommodate Miyako's keyboard setup?) with Midori now taking the left side of the stage next to bassist Miho. Also around that time, Midori dyed her hair blonde and Miyako darkened hers, which might cause some confusion when watching different live videos.

This song is just a killer, and this live version is way better than the music video! The musicianship of these ladies is amazing. The singing, the guitars, the drums, it is just all on point, and as you said, they make it seem so effortlessly, which is equally amazing! And I totally agree: Music is about having fun, both when playing it and when listening to it :) Best wishes

In Asia the arts are still taught is their schools, every band seems to have several members, if not all, that were playing an instrument at a very young age. It's in their culture and we in the west have lost too much of it. Asami was singing Soul/R&B prior to Lovebites. They wear white so they can be seen better as most stage backgrounds are dark (fyi the tallest member is 5'1")

Asami (lead v) was a R&B singer. That maybe why. Also, all their songs are in English except for one song.

Glad you checked them out. So adding some background - Miho (bassist) and drummer Haruna were in a band called Destrose. Miho formed a new band in 2016, wanting an 80's style and english songs. Is a fan of Iron Maiden, and Megadeth - instagram.com/p/B9ZLQEiJw1c/ Vocalist Asami was previously an R&B singer, never done metal before. Speaks english well along with Midori who does the solo at 8 30. Miyako does keyboards and piano as well - been in the band 21 grams and Drop of Joker. They've done the UK multiple times and did Wacken, Singapore, and Japan. Haven't been to the US but Midori and Miyako were at the NAMM expo (prior to the Corona virus so ....) Just a note that most of the live footage is average to poor quality. Anything with Battle in the East after the song title is from their live DVD Besides Break the wall there's The crusade, Liar, Hammer of Wrath, and Empty day dream

It is not an operatic voice, but a normal voice that sings and does not shout into a microphone.

Yes, the iron Ladies! Yeah your mother is right, look how Lovebites do, they play better than other male bands out there. Look about Visual kei, men who dressed like drag queens. /,,/

If your in the UK, for Lovebites jpurecords.com/collections/lovebites They have a lot of other bands as well inc. Band-Maid, Aldious, Mary's Blood and The Gazette. So no need to get CD's from Japan.

If there are any female rock bands here in the UK as good as this I've not heard of them yet. Highly recommend JPU Records as Maximus said, and also Mary's Blood and Aldious. The only downside with JPU is that they don't get all the bonuses the Japanese versions have. If you were to import the special edition of Lovebites' second album, Clockwork Immortality, you would get the blu-ray (or DVD) of the concert this video is from (it's called Battle in the East). Also, the special edition of their latest album, Electric Pentagram, comes with either a DVD of their Wacken 2018 performance or a double live cd recorded in Tokyo last year.

I'm not sure if its a female thing to make metal singers sound operatic... just look at Noble Beast, their lead singer is very operatic (kzbin.info/aero/PLHNpX6NDLSfJxnEIbY6htIU18XdpXXQpf)
@prs1494 жыл бұрын
Yes operatic is g e n e r a l l y their style, which in some styles I don't get mostly metal
