Just got notification of your ❤ of my comment. Thanks! When a LOVEBITES related ❤ I call it "Bravehearted" as that is a song I have 'favored' from first hearing. Their only song written by drummer Haruna, both lyrics & music: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5KupYWDnriZg6s This video, 2nd from beginning of their 2019 Daughters of the Dawn show has embedded lyrics. Often a 'closing' song previously, as it is on first EP (sung in Japanese) & first full album Awakening From Abyss (translated to English) & the studio-LIVE Anniversary performance, Awake Again. This song was also the 2nd performed at their pair of "Resurrection" performances March 11 & 12, 2023 which included mostly songs from previous releases, including (interesting to me) 5 songs written by respected former bassist/founder/leader, Miho, who is the bassist on all officially released videos through 12/2021. Also, I clicked on this link I'm replying to (though had watched immediately when posted) to find 7,700 views & 666 'thumbs up' ! That's a good thing in Metal, right? &:-) Thanks for your attention to this talented & uplifting band. I am sub'd for more, & maybe some 'schooling' on palm-muting. 50+years of a stifling picking technique! But I am getting better learning Haruna's drumming to "Bravehearted" !! 🐺

I’m not a musician but I understand what I see and hear. The synchronicity between Midori and Miyako (M&M) is frightening. The whole band are elite level musicians. Once you discover them, and hear the incredible range of styles within metal that they make their own, they are a drug. It’s futile resisting, so I never tried. They have more or less taken over my life. I’ve made one trip to Japan this year (from the U.K.) and am going again in September for two gigs, one Osaka, the other Sapporo. No, I’m not wealthy..far from it. But as long as I can scrape together the money, I’ll travel to any country, any continent to see them play. Best band of my 50 year listening experience.

I will have to wait for them to come to the USA. Traveling abroad is just not possible for me right now. But it's great if you can do it. Sooner or later, Lovebites will tour the world. Hopefully soon. We are all expecting something to happen in 2024. Cross your fingers that nobody else gets preggo. That would be another delay.

Break The Wall was from their 2020 Five of a Kind show. This one is from their 2021 Heavy Metal Never Dies show. It's the concert where Miyako is 4 and a half months pregnant at the time. She tends to use 3 Dean guitars and Midori has a couple of ESP's amongst others. LOVEBITES are an enigma. They don't look how you'd expect given their sound. And, their skill and dedication is above what you'd expect for their young age. Frankly they are just an amazing complete package.

WE are exactly the target audience for this band. ( Gen-X metal heads. ) It's almost as if this band was custom designed exclusively for US! Many of us play an instrument. So we understand what Lovebites is all about. We instantly "get it". Lovebites is dominating the metal genre with their technical ability, diverse songwriting, and amazing live shows. I put them on the level of Symphony X and Dream Theater. And yes, they also do Maiden, Priest, Metallica, DragonForce, Angra, Helloween, and many other styles. So you can't even try to pigeon-hole them into any specific genre. They can cover it all. They are an unstoppable force in the metal music world. The next thing they need to do is headline a world tour. We know it. They know it. I'm sure their manager/label knows it too. We are expecting something to happen in 2024. Watch it go! 🤘🏼🐺🤘🏼

Midori (blonde) and Miyako (brunette) make a killer guitar duo. One of the best I've ever seen/heard. Lovebites has about 60 songs and I would say about 8-10 of them are categorized as thrash songs. They play primarily power metal songs, mixed with thrash elements and symphonic or progressive elements. They also have a strong NWOBHM influence from bands like Priest and Maiden. Personally I call them a power thrash band. They typically sound heavier than all the other power metal bands so it is hard to really categorize the band as a whole. It is best to just enjoy their music and call it heavy metal.

Nothing wrong with the Dragonforce reference--Lovebites toured with them in 2019 and Herman is a fan. I think DF set the standard for pure shredding, but honestly Lovebites' songwriting is much more interesting, often beautiful. Lovebites are open about their influences--Purple, Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Helloween, Metallica, Slayer, Dragonforce...not to mention Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff etc. Where Lovebites have separated themselves from the pack is in what they do with all that.

As someone with no technical knowledge, I found myself fascinated by how tight they were. And, that steady, driving drum in the back.

As others have said, DragonForce and LOVEBITES toured together a few years ago. There’s a short video out there where Midori and Miyako join DragonForce on stage and trade solos with Herman while Sam plays banjo and the drummer and bass guitarist from DF provide backup. It’s silly but it’s fun. Another Japanese group I’d like to recommend is Asterism. The guitarist is only 20 years old, but she’s been playing since she was 10 and blows me away with how great she is. Their song “Church” is a work of beauty, but “Gunfire” is a great one where she shows off some guitar pyrotechnics. They also have my favorite bass guitarist in Japan and a killer drummer as well. Normally I’d provide links, but I’m on a new phone and don’t know how to do that yet.

Safe to say the torch has been passed from Tipton / Downing (Priest) and Murray / Smith (Maiden) to Midori and Miyako. Even 5mos pregnant, Miyako (dark haired) on stage, shredding for nearly 2hrs...she is F brutal. What band in their right mind would have Lovebites open for them; you're a guitarist, would you, lol? Great reaction, so much more to go and wait till you see their softer side. They can do it all. Recommend Shadowmaker live 2021, A Frozen Serenade live 2021 - again, showing Miyako pregnant or Thunder Vengeance live 2020 which is the show opener and an absolute face melter. 4' 9" Haruna absolutely crushes the drum kit in Thunder Vengeance. Note: Break The Wall live you did was from the 2020 show. Appreciate the in-depth analysis and respect to talent! 🤘

I'd say that "Set the World on Fire", "Break the Wall" and "The Hammer of Wrath" often will be named as the overall favourite Lovebites-songs among those fans who especially like Thrash Metal (myself included). Since you also mentioned that you especially like Thrash Metal, you will love the live performance of "The Hammer of Wrath" (with the preceding intro "The Awakening") from their 2020 live performance, which has already been suggested by others before. You don't start an encore-section better than this! Since you mentioned Dragonforce - I doubt they have a song which sounds as thrashy as "Set the World on Fire" and they surely don't cover as many styles as Lovebites - I support the suggestion in several other comments to check out the live performance of "Farming Simulator", in which Miyako and Midori joined Dragonforce, as well as the cover of "My Heart Will Go On", in which all of Lovebites joined them on stage. No need to do a reaction - just watch for pure entertainment purposes! Both clips also prove all those people wrong who claim/complain that Miyako never smiles.
@chriso6719 Жыл бұрын
You mentioned a Dragonforce influence , LOVEBITES have opened for them before. That was Miyako playing the Dean, she is the one classically trained on piano, and plays the Chopin intro on Swan Song.. Midori has the ESP. Another one on the thrash side that you'll probably want to check out is Thunder Vengeance. Are you getting some of the rain, is it knocking the smoke out of the air? Cheers from Buffalo.

Miyako described “Set The World On Fire” as Thrash Metal. The album’s producer Steve Jacobs had them change the middle arrangement just before recording. From the album Electric Pentagram Lyrics: Asami Music: Miyako Arrangement; Miyako/LOVEBITES 🎸🔥🤘🐺

Thanks for the reaction. "Break the Wall" that you checked was from a concert that took place in February 2020, when the Covid-19 Pandemic was just beginning and there were no such strict Anti-Covid restrictions for the audience in the hall. "Set the World on Fire" from the March 2021 concert, during the second year of the Pandemic. At the beginning of 2021, a new wave of Covid-19 began in Japan. A very tense situation was created, many people got sick, people were dying. The Japanese government declared a state of emergency. The National Tour LOVEBITES ("Ride for Vengeance Tour 2021"), all tickets for which were already sold out in 2020,, was rescheduled from January 2021 to March - April 2021 and took place with mandatory anti-COVID safety measures: the hall was full not completely (the number of viewers is limited, many people who wanted to get to the concert could not buy tickets) maintaining social distance between people, viewers must stay where they are, everyone is wearing masks, temperature control (spectators), hand disinfection, are not allowed to express their emotions loudly (shouting, sing ), only applause is allowed, etc. LOVEBITES risked their health during a concerts that lasted 2 hours. Unlike the audience, they were not wearing masks. Also, during the "Ride for Vengeance Tour 2021", Miyako (brunette, Dean guitar) was 4 - 5 months pregnant .I think that you, as a professional, can appreciate Miyako's professionalism knowing this : - playing technically complex music (guitar, piano, keyboards), - performing backing vocals , - 2 hours , 18 songs, - this is already the third concert of the LOVEBITES Tour in different cities, - while being 4 -5 months pregnant, - during the Covid-19 pandemic, when you can get infected and infect the unborn baby..... Miyako did a great job with her role! 👍 *** In November 2019, at the invitation of Herman Li, LOVEBITES toured the UK together with DRAGONFORCE (11 concerts). Herman Li even wore a white dress and went on stage in it to match the style (white dresses) of LOVEBITES😊

Lovebites toured the UK with DragonForce and were so impressive many think they would be the headliner next tour. Midori(ESP) and Miyako(Dean) a/k/a the M&M show are polar opposites who blend perfectly together because they practice together away from the band. Miyako is a classical trained pianist, who many believe is better on piano than on guitar. If you want try the Awaking/Hammer of Wrath next, LIVE of course. If you really want to see perfection in total harmony try Sign of Deliverance and be ready to prop your jaw, LOL.

The guitar lick you played was from Testament Trial by Fire. Testament is one of my favorite thrash metal bands. Lovebites is my favorite band, taking over Iron Maiden since 1982 to last year.. These ladies are all very talented but beyond that they are accomplished. Talent only gets you so far and without putting the hours of work in, you are not going to be good, nowhere close to what these ladies are. I don't think I know any other band that has two guitarists that synchronize their solos together as well as they do and I know dozens of metal bands. I know about 50 of their 60 songs and find elements of Dragonforce, Maiden, Priest, Testament, Slayer in their songs. Songs I'd recommend - The Awakening / Hammer of Wrath Live, Shadowmaker Live in Tokyo 2021, Judgement Day (MV), Soldier Stands Solitarily (English Translation of the board)

LOVEBITES tend to mix metal genres - especially with Power Metal and Thrash. Their song "Dissonance" from their latest album has a (sort of) Black Metal guitar vibe, but they still sneak in a Power Metal lead break into that song. This mixing of genres is one of the things I love about LOVEBITES.

It's not easy to find reactors that can recognize the quality of these musicians and the power of Lovebites songs. I'd like to suggest for future reactions: 1. Shadowmaker (one of their first songs, really heavy, splendid guitar solos, it's my favorite). 2. Raise some hell 3. Frozen serenade (this one is almost a balad). 4. Swan song (with Chopin Revolutionary Étude intro) and 5. Rising - a very uplifting song.

Hopefully the buffets were good. I love buffets. You know it's metal when a woman in a gorgeous gown with an operatic voice says "gates of hell". Dual leads harken Priest, Maiden, DragonForce, and others. IMO, Lovebites does it better than the rest (just my personal opinion). Lovebites does Power Metal influences with no cheesiness whatsoever. They are pure power/speed based, and then add thrash, classical, heavy metal, and other influences to all their songs. Miyako's (guitarist on the right who is also a piano virtuoso) guitar tone in this song is so evil!! From the new album, the audio track "Dissonance" is their heaviest to date IMO. Also, the official music "Judgement Day" has my all-time favorite solo run. The new bassist Fami has quite a bit to do with my opinion. Enjoy your reaction.

I enjoyed your 1st reaction to Lovebites and I enjoyed this reaction as well. When this song 1st came out I seen the title and thought of Annihilator and their song "Set The World On Fire" witch is great song that I love as well. The lick you played sounded really familiar but I cant put my finger on it. Lovebites play everything from classic Heavy Metal to Thrash Metal and fuse genres together like in this song where it had elements of Thrash and Elements of Power Metal. Two new suggestions, one for Lovebites and one for a new Band. For Lovebites, i suggest "Under the Red Sky" in the live recording of 2019. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2Ocaougd7Oceck With this song you will recognize another musical aspect of the band. This is the closer of the show. The fantasic live performances of the 2020 and 2021 live shows have the problems of the strict japanese Corona rules. This kills the atmosphere and drives the perfomances, in some some ways, into the corner for a technical showcase. (You just watched one of that perfomances). Also Miyako, guitar stage left was pregnant, and, i believe, some debate about the musical way of the band with the bassist and founder Miho has just begun. I´m seeing lots of professionalism in the 2020/21 shows but i missed the happiness of 2019 record. The choosen recording testifies, that they can set an audience and themself on fire. For a deeper dive into the rock/metal scene of Japan "Band-Maid" is a must know. They are just on thier 2nd US tour. They sing japanese with some english sentences. The overall genre description of Band-Maid is Hard-Rock which goes into Metal but also into Rockpop. But if you progress throught thier catalogue you will recognize, that they define thier own musical genre named "Bandmaidish" 😉 I suggest "From Now On", an intrumental, which shows thier technicall and compsitional skills. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2e9hKmjo9CGZpI With a singer, try the live double feature "Manners / Black-Hole". Two very different songs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5LJamekg7iFfac Both are found on thier youtoube channel.

Just so you know, if you continue to dive into Lovebites' music, you'll quickly discover that they are NOT a thrash metal band. If you were to divide their catalogue into the various genres they play, thrash comes in third, in terms of how many songs they have in the genre (about a half dozen or so straight thrash songs). Primarily they play in the power metal/symphonic metal genre (roughly two-thirds of their material), followed by NWOBHM-inspired traditional metal, followed by thrash. Wrapping up their catalogue are a small handful of progressive metal songs, and at least one power ballad. Their biggest influences are Helloween and Iron Maiden, along with slightly lesser influences from Judas Priest, Angra, and thrash giants like Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera and Slayer. Those are as a band. On an individual level, Midori cites Yngwie, Nuno Bettencourt and Kiko Loureiro as major influences on her guitar playing, while Miyako names Ritchie Blackmore, Gary Moore, and EVH as major influences on her playing. Haruna is influenced by all of Helloween's drummers. Miho (former bassist) is a student (figuratively speaking) of Steve Harris, and Asami was influenced by Alicia Keys and other R&B vocalists. The new bassist Fami (who you haven't seen yet in your reactions) grew up on the likes of Deep Purple and Rainbow, due to her father being a rocker, but her own musical background is mostly in J-pop, and Lovebites is her first foray into playing metal (like Asami).

Funny you should mention Dragonforce as Lovebites have already toured the UK with them . Herman Li did an ( unsuccessful ) audition for Lovebites and even dressed for the part 😂 If you want a bit of lighthearted fun then check out - Dragonforce and Lovebites " Farming Simulator " or " My Heart Will Go On " - both bands very much tongue in cheek having a blast ! ( both videos are on KZbin ) Look forward to watch you do more Lovebites ( and hopefully some of the other great Japanese all female bands out there )

Well, it seems you’ve just been severely lovebitten, too. This song is from the concert “Heavy metal never dies” (Japan, 2021) and “Break the wall” is from “Five of a kind” (Japan, 2020). Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Angra, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Pantera, Yngwee and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. Some people say that they are redefining metal or that they are breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. They really shine in their live performances. I recommend songs from the concerts “Crusaders standing at Wacken” (Wacken Open Air, Germany, 2018), “Daughters of the dawn” (2019), “Five of a kind” (2020), “Awakening From The abyss” (studio live, 2020) and “Heavy metal never dies” (2021); avoid “Bloodstock” because audio is not good (not their fault). Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. In an interview, Miho (ex bassist) said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. When you have time, my next suggestions are “Thunder vengeance”, “The Awakening/Hammer of wrath”, “Shadowmaker”, “Holy war”, “Raise some hell”, “Scream for me”, “When destinies align”, “The crusade”, “Don’t bite the dust”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “Above the Black Sea”, “Under the red sky”, “Eagle fly free” (Helloween cover)” (all live). They are so versatile, so for a different side of them I suggest “Chopin Etude + Swan song”, “Dancing with the devil”, “Glory to the world”, “Frozen serenade”, “Liar”, “Empty daydream”, “Edge of the world”, “Epilogue”, “Stand and deliver (shoot’em down)”, “Spellbound”. Btw, they toured Asia and Europe in 2018 and 2019, and they toured the UK in 2019 supporting Dragonforce (they’re good friends, by the way) They recently released their new album (Judgement day) with their new bassist, Fami. A few days ago Miyako posted the video of her piano rendition of Helloween’s “Eagle fly free” on the Lovebites KZbin official channel (highly recommended). In June, Miyako is going to release her album with piano versions of some metal songs. Lineup: Haruna - Drums Miho - ExBass, backing vocals (left the band in August, 2021) Midori - Lead & rhythm guitar, backing vocals Miyako - Lead & rhythm guitar, keyboards, classical piano, backing vocals Asami - Lead vocals, some piano

Yea, they are definitely mostly a power metal band. "Break the Wall" and now this are two of their thrashiest songs. And as you noticed, this one is already wading into power metal territory.
@GrayFox14 Жыл бұрын
It's hard to call LOVEBITES a power metal band. 🤗The ladies call themselves a heavy metal band. This is closer to the truth. Approximately 20% of LOVEBITES songs can be attributed to thrash metal. This is not counting songs from other genres of metal that are in the band's catalogue. Plus songs that can be attributed to hard rock ect.
@Equilibrium2903 Жыл бұрын
@@GrayFox14 I mean, that is literally what i said, MOSTLY power metal. Anyways, arguing about band genres is stupid, my comment was only aimed at preparing him for potential disappointment if he expects more thrash from them.
@GrayFox14 Жыл бұрын
@@Equilibrium2903 This is not my assessment. This is an assessment of music critics, professional musicians,ect. And the ladies themselves never called themselves a power metal band. In interviews they always refer to themselves as a heavy metal band. "We are LOVEBITES. And we play heavy metal !" - says (shouts) Asami at every concert, addressing the audience. Read and watch media, lots and lots of reviews, articles, etc. on various releases of the band + their interviews. Reactor waiting for more thrash? He will hear him. At least 7-8 more thrash songs. In total there will be 9-10 thrash songs, which is 20% of the total number of original LOVEBITES songs (about 60 songs). From your answer to me, I understand that, most likely, you are only superficially familiar with this group. Did not hear all the songs or listened inattentively to their songs. If you haven't noticed anything other than "prog". Ok, I will not try to continue to explain something to you. Everyone has the right to make mistakes if they really want to. Keep misleading people.🙃Good luck for this reason I do not wish .🤗

6 hours, 2000+ views (!) You might find a thrash influence in segments of a majority of their songs. As they did here with the change for the guitar solos, they excel at seamlessly-blending varieties of styles/genre, including 'out' of 'typical metal' effectively manifesting an original approach that is familiar yet original. A 'parade' of 'hooks' significantly connected by Haruna & Miho's (Fami's) transitions. Glad you did not pause right after the solos/duet so as to not miss that transition out of the power-metalish solo segment back to thrash. The transitions in "The Hammer Of Wrath" grabbed my attention and has not let go! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6PGmniVeq18g8k

Another Scorcher. This band is Awesome aren't they. What a New and Refreshing take on Technical/Melodic/Thrash Metal. If this band was out in the 80's they would have owned The World. Another great reaction/analysis. Only about 50 some songs of their to go now. That solo was from Trial by Fire and damn nice sounding.

Easily my favorite band in the world. They're so talented. I think I'll recommend Thunder Vengeance, show opener 2020 kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4ioaIOneNV6n5Y and/or Awakening - Hammer of Wrath, encore opener 2020 kzbin.info/www/bejne/paWti4OLeNysha8 next. Both have great builds with the crowd and both are amazing songs. Don't overlook their masterpieces though - Swan Song (with the Chopin intro), Frozen Serenade, and Edge of the World. Or you could just react to them all. I think you have around 57 songs to go! 🔥🤘

You are witnessing the most talented band walking this earth, and they have over 60 songs to prove it. They play hard rock and the entire spectrum of metal. If you put them in a battle of the bands with the greatest bands in history, LOVEBITES would win.

Great reaction video as always dude. That being said however, I have to ask: exactly WHY do MOST people compare newer Metal songs to DragonForce? Don't get me wrong, DragonForce is a GREAT Metal band with TREMENDOUS talent. BUT, by comparing EVERY Metal band to DragonForce gives the impression that DragonForce is either the FIRST Metal band to do something musically, or the BEST Metal band to do so. That is most definitely NOT the case. DragonForce is MERELY following in the footsteps of Metal bands from the early to mid-80's. Just wanted to point that out. But regardless, again GREAT reaction video as always dude. I don't know if you've already reacted to these two songs, but I had a suggestion for reactions to 2 songs: 1 - I, Madman by Ancient; 2 - The Heritage by Ancient. But even if you never do reactions to those two songs, definitely looking forward to your next reaction video dude.

Two totally different shows Break the wall was from the FOAK show and this is from the Ride for Vengeance show. In all honesty dragon force sucked they used to much repetitions on the riffs and solos so much it seriously got very boring. I personally never invested in any of the music so I say no Lovebites sounds nothing like dragon force by any comparison. Lovebites did tour with them in 2019 in England but it was quite obvious that Lovebites blew them off stage and they just bowed their heads to the new metal queens of the rock scene. Many greats of the past have great admiration and respect for the tiny ladies, who have shaken the rock world to a whole new level of explosiveness. 4 albums and 4 EPs with a total of 60+ songs and 3 covers we don't know which they are bringing next, because they are very diversified and complex in their song and music writing and composing skills.
