The thing I appreciate the most from the female bands in the Japanese hard-rock and metal genres is that the bands actually embrace their femininity. Instead of going with the overdone trope from the 1970's and 1980's of "trashy rocker chick," they show that they can be both classy and feminine in appearance and rock your face off.

saldiven2009 I found it very funny. The gap between angelic~cute looks and bestial shredding.

Right on. Japanese ladies in hard rock are strong, powerful, exceptionally talented, but still ultra feminine. Love, honor, respect, to all of these classy, beautiful, amazing, talented ladies, indeed! As for Love Bites, to me, they're incredible, maybe best band performing in the world today, male or female.

I had a hell of a reaction the first time I heard it too. I think my jaw hit the ground. Japan is saving rock.
@Baldmann

I don't think rock needed saving. There are plenty of amazing metal bands out there right now.

True that but so many follow a set patter of deathmetal, metalcore, deathcore, etc. They all have the same tattoos, same guitars and I was at a Bloodstock in England and after a while they all ran together. Seriously. that growl they have all perfected got REAL old fast. As for bands staying away from that genre I like BLACK VEIL BRIDES, HALESTORM and a few others. BUT the Japanese female bands have an entirely different vitality to them. The talent is unmistakable. Hell all the bands do from Japan. It's like in the last 7 years or so they have taken the reins we in the West let go of back in the 70s and 80s. Because lets be honest the crap that is getting airplay now is pure crap. The only station near me playing heavy and metal rock is in the same rut top 40 stations are in. Playing SAFE metal bands. So THIS IS a new take on a great music form from the past and "Save" may be a bit of hyperbole but look at your numbers when you "react" to Japanese bands vs the rest of the Western World. Hell X Japan and Maximum the Hormone brought you in huge numbers. So do the great majority of react fans. THIS is something that is bringing back, I feel, a sense of the great rock of the 70s and 80s before Bon Jovi ruined it and then gRUNge TOTALLY destroyed it and EMO music makes me want to hunt down the bands and ship them all off to a deserted island where they can all whine to each other. By the way listen to X JAPAN LAST LIVE ....RUSTY NAIL. Give you an idea of what Japan thinks of their kings of J Rock. WELL that's enough of my rant. ROCK ON.

Bassist Miho and drummer Haruna are former members of disbanded/on hiatus band called Destrose, a real deal all female band that played as good as Aldious, but with many changes. So, we can say Lovebites is a descendant of Destrose, like another few, for our fortune, as Disqualia, Fate Gear and, the VERY good band Mary's Blood, just a little behind Aldious, and thrashy as Lovebites. Here is the most known sample of their music: Destrose - Maze: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ycYqtsYr2Gipo

There are some live things out there too. What I like about the guitarists is that they're playing like they're out of their minds and they're smiling like crazy. At least the one is.
@jimmyzhu1741
@jimmyzhu1741 5 жыл бұрын
The one smiling is Midori and she tends to be like that whenever she's aggressively shredding. It's kind of awesome. Miyako/Mi-Ya is the other guitarist and while she never seems to smile during performances she still really seems like she gets into it. Probably my favorite guitar duo.

1:14 in and my mind is blown. Agreed, The abrupt stop and then long pause caught me off guard, however it was unique. This band is solid, you've again turned me onto a new band... their solid. Super happy to see females in Power metal.

This band is killer, seen them live a few times and they've got the goods to deliver live - only one album out thus far as they only formed in 2016 but I'm following their career with close interest. Although not power metal another extremely good all girl J-Rock band is Doll$Boxx - they do a crazy mashup pop-funk-metal style - not to everyone's taste perhaps but extremely creative and fun (also one of the best bands I've ever seen live). If you want some silly British/Swiss power metal have you ever listened to the fantastically ridiculous Gloryhammer? Tracks of theirs like Rise of the Chaos Wizards, Angus McFife and The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee are some of the most fun you can have when listening to metal (in my opinion). Thanks for the thoughtful reaction!

I second the motion for Doll$boxx and/or Gacharic Spin. More J-Rock rather than metal but great bassist. The bass part on "Lock On" is particularly awesome.

I've got the cd and I really like the every track which is unusual these days. You may already this band but if not how about a reaction to some 90's Swedish ladies? Drain S.T.H. I Don't Mind kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX_akqyNbb5nnbs or the cover version of Ace of Spades which they make their own kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKXUpKptm8mqgK8
