An astounding,, ground breaking performance and to think that only nine months before Wacken ( August 2018) they played to around 500 people at The Underworld in Camden Town, London and that gig, according to Midori, was the first time they had played a full set in public. They were very good back then but this performance shows how much they had developed in nine months. This is probably my favourite video of all of their live performances.

This is Wacken the Mecca of Metal and every metal bands dream is to perform there and Miho was so nervous at the start of the set, her dream had come true!! This was an early start for the ladies and they were a curiosity, runway models playing Metal....these are hard core Metal-Heads all 82,000+ who travel to this 3 day open air festival the first weekend each August. So only a few had even heard of the ladies at this time but they came out blasting, with Miyako and Midori on fire and the ice water running in their veins. Asami took control of the crowd and really became the stage general the ladies knew she was when they choose her as the front person for the group. Then there is the one who stole the show as per my friend who was there for this (I still hate him to this day because of that...LOL), Haruna was such a bada$$ on that kit she blew everyone away and was the talk of the crowd. The mini nuke went into overdrive and really left everyone asking who she was. The ladies weren't on long but they were super as this shows and next time it is the Main Stage on Saturday Night for the band that should be dominating the world but for CoVid killing off their world tours. The ladies served notice that J/Metal had arrived and they were the 1st all female J/Metal band to play Wacken and likely they won't be the last, but will still be the best!!!!

Interesting to hear princess Haruna stole the show and captured the crowd. I first showed my wife When Destinies Align and asked here to tell me who was the biggest bad azz of the bunch. @@waterwalker9600 Totally agree and that was why I worried Haruna was also leaving after Miho's departure. They were together in Destrose and were awesome so you are looking at a duo who performed together LIVE as well as practiced in studio for over a decade. The new bassist will bring her own skills (and her own high heels) and will have to fit into this well oiled machine quickly but understand she has to develop the chemistry with each member and especially Haruna. That said I trust Haruna to be the patient partner needed here as the bassist and her again likely won't get any real shine time but will be the backbone especially LIVE to keep this band moving forward.

Hello! This whole concert was great and led them to win best new metal band from Metal Hammer. This was before Midori and Miyako changed places on stage (that happened in a gig in a small club in Paris) and of course before they decided on their recent stage personas (Miyako stoic, Midori expressive speedy and showing off)). This song (the videoclip though, not this version) was my first Lovebites experience. It’s an incredible introduction to the band because it incorporates all their signature elements. Thanks for more LOVEBITES! This was a fulfillment of Miho's dream, to perform at Wacken Open Air with her own Metal band. Your recognition of Haruna is welcomed and she really impressed this crowd, supporting the choice to be given main-stage at Bloodstock 6 days later. Concerning Midori 💚, "Could you be HOTTER? Could you be more perfect, Midori?" The answer is NO! From solo construction, to unfamiliar melody-lines, to fluid transitions between techniques, to presentation, to personal interaction with fans, I have never in all my decades of music appreciation experienced HOTTER, better or a more entertaining and precious musician. A few notes: Miyako has already had the baby, most likely in late August (she has said she was 4 months pregnant when they filmed Heavy Metal Never Dies). Re. Wacken: They were bumped up to the big stage when another band was delayed in transit to the festival. Big bit of luck for Lovebites and for the audience, most of whom didn't know who they were until this performance. Shortly after this, Metal Hammer (the biggest metal publication) awarded them Best New Metal Act as voted by their readers--there are videos of them celebrating with the award. All in all, a major event in the history of the band, and they completely nailed it.
@dregeye3 жыл бұрын
Actually, you might recall that it was Bloodstock that they were moved to the main stage, resulting in the poor audio mix and monitors. Wacken was a smaller stage, first all women Japanese band to play the festival, a noon spot on Saturday, but they drew such a crowd, overflowing the tent, and recognition that resulted in them being chosen to fill the main-stage spot at Bloodstock 6 days later. This Wacken show (still available as bonus DVD with Electric Pentagram) is fantastic in performance and audio mix. Video is great, only a few moments where soloists are not featured, but that is my only real frustration with their live shows, whenever the camera cuts away... Also, I think Metal Hammer award was early June 2018 and led to the Wacken invitation for August 4th. All written with great respect for your continued support of the best (alien?) band I have ever heard! Still hoping to see the LIVE at some time, maybe a move to Japan(!) Seems I may meet many of Wolf-Pack who also 'migrate' to where these phenomenal artists originated. Maybe including Anastasia (!?)

The bigger stages at Wacken are called Bigger, Louder, and Faster. This was the W.E.T. stage. That stage and the Headbangers stage share the same tent. They were the first act that day and were always scheduled to play on that stage and in that time slot. As for the Metal Hammer award, they celebrated it a few times, most notably during their Daughters of the Dawn performance. Moreover, that may have been the last time the Metal Hammer Awards took place as I can't find any winners after 2019, though it's been a while since I've looked.

LOVEBITES - Shadowmaker lyrics: Caught in the noise, my thoughts are destroyed Trapped in the silence, it's so hard to breathe But still I go on, my hunger is strong Hoping that someone will grab my hand Stranded by moonlight I realize the cold of this world Maybe it's too late? No one can save me From all of the darkness and solitude Cry, like shadows of the night I carry all the pain inside to justify why I'm alive Despite going through this hell Cause still my heart has hope No matter if I'm torn apart, I'll play my part Before I drown with secret thoughts of my heart Reckless and fast, how long will I last? Dancing like puppets, I'm empty inside Fighting the fear, and grieving the dear Hoping that someday I'll be repaid Only my echoing heartbeats can prove that I'm here Am I all alone? Even a faint light is too bright for me, I can't see a thing Hide, in shadows I reside I tremble like a heartless soul, no place to go In desolated land knowing no escape But still I wish to live Just waiting for a somebody to notice me Before I fall down to depths of the abyss Caught in the noise, my thoughts are destroyed Trapped in the silence, it's so hard to breathe But still I go on, my hunger is strong Hoping that someone will grab my hand Stranded by moonlight I realize the cold of this world Maybe it's too late? No one can save me from solitude Cry, like shadows of the night I tremble like a heartless soul, no place to go In desolated land knowing no escape But still I wish to live Just waiting for a somebody to notice me Before I fall down to depths of the abyss Like shadows of the night I carry all the pain inside to justify why I'm alive Despite going through this hell Cause still my heart has hope No matter if I'm torn apart, I'll play my part Before I drown with secret thoughts of my heart ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)

Awesome review as always. This was Wacken Open Air 2018. The greatest experience for them, especially for Miho. Did you notice that Midori is on the stage left and Miyako on the right? And they sound and look wilder and more natural. Now they are more planed and sophisticated. I love both of them. This is my delusion, that may do something with Miho's departure. I have a kind of feeling she wanted more "metal/rock band" style stage like their old time, but it's just my daydream. I'm sure they are coming back shortly. They release a new piece a week ago named "Nameless Warrior" from the album titled "In The Beginning" expected to be released on 22nd. of Dec, I have been informed the disks will be dropped at home on that date. The song is composed after the announcement of Miho's decision of departure, and became the last session of the complete original Lovebites. There is a phrase "this is the time we'll never forget" in the song, and literally as it is. There is a scene in the MV a wolf head downs in a snow storm, then the wolf head ups again and running ahead through falling Cherry Blossom shower at the end of the clip. The wolf in the snow storm symbolizes Lovebites in the toughest time to bear which is Miho's departure. The wolf running forward symbolizes the restart of Lovebites. Cherry blossom is the symbol of end of winter or restart of new life in Japan. If you want to visit Japan, April to May is the best. Dreamingly beautiful all over with Cherry Blossom. The clip is to show their will to make a new start as Lovebites, I believe. Whole MV is a chronological footage of Lovebites to share every precious memory in their history of 6 years ( they actually became active in 2017).

LOVEBITES - "Bravehearted " ( Daughters of the Dawn - Live in Tokyo , 2019) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYm1omSPh8R0Ztk

Not that these bands aren't Great even on a regular riser stage but the shows like BM and LoveBites too a slightly lesser degree require many props,electricians,lighting,,etc,etc not too mention 2-4 men sound and midi lights sync boards. Your LOVEBITES love has been transmitted very much. I love too. There aren't many power metal bands that are melodious, catchy, technical, and have excellent vocals. Japan's three biggest female vocal metal bands BABYMETAL and LOVEBITES, and one more There is "Unlucky Morpheus". Please try to react to the LIVE video.

Why do so many women love Madori?

You might like Band Maid too. They're hard rock rather than power metal like Lovebites and also an all female band. Both bands are excellent. Apples and oranges. Domination kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k Try it, you might like it.

While Lovebites is my number one band favorite band... Nemophila doesn't come far behind (might even pass!). I am surprised you have not yet reacted to them. They are the fastest raising metal band in Japanese metal genre. You will be severely impressed by their MV's "Dissension", "Revive" and "Hypnosis".... Here is link to their DISSENSION music video.: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGfEfqiXnd2tbsU

Love Bites, BITE…American & European music has a much prettier sound…
@MXEC-wf8tj3 жыл бұрын
Though I disagree with this statement completely, I understand we all have different tastes in music. Hell, Kid Rock and Kanye have huge followings so I guess there's a shit ton of people out there who think that has a "prettier sound", go figure.

Fair enough. That's your taste. But I 100% disagree with you. Lovebites blows away any modern (last 10-15 years) American band I have heard. If anything I think American rock and metal has stagnated. Nothing I've seen from any American band for years now that remotely interests me.
