To understand the meaning of the lyrics of the swan song, we need the historical background of "Chopin's Revolutionary Etude". During his journey, Chopin learns that Poland's "November Revolution", which resisted the rule of the Russian Empire, failed. Originally from Poland, he lost a place to return home. After that, Chopin released his "Practice Song Op. 10-12". SWAN SONG is a song dedicated to the warriors who fought to regain their hometown. Miyako (guitar & piano) who composed the song studied classical piano from the age of 3 and graduated from music college. Asami, who has been studying classical ballet since she was two years old, wrote her lyrics by incorporating the image of "Swan Lake" into this song. And she thought about the arrangement with all the members, and this masterpiece was born. Their playing technique and musical sensibility are extraordinary.

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics: If this was the last day you could live on this earth Would you still go on, accusing someone for today It’s better to fail than not do anything at all It is not the length, but depth of life that counts Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life Sometimes the life of one can save so many more Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)

I loved your reaction and it was very observant of you to spot the singer, Asami's, depiction of a swan. One thing that you are perhaps unaware of is that (among her many other talents) Asami is a trained ballerina. While Miyako incorporated classical music from Chopin and Dvorak into the composition of the song, Asami brought her own classical background to the table. At the end of the song when Miyako returns to the piano, Asami dances elements of the "Dying Swan"; a ballet piece first choreographed in 1905 by Mikhail Fokine to Camille Saint-Saens' piece "Le Cygne" (The Swan). This dance was created especially for legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova who reputedly performed the dance over 4,000 times in her career. The dance has since become incorporated into interpretations of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet and "The Dying Swan" is one of the most recognised dances in ballet. Unfortunately we only get a glimpse of Asami's performance here as, understandably, the camera focuses on Miyako on the piano but her graceful collapse in front of the drums is nevertheless beautiful.

The way I see it its a tribute to Swan Lake , the ballet , and lyric wise a tribute to the warriors, and the moves from singer in ballet style (she studied ballet and Midori , Miyako, Haruna and the vocalist all learned piano). They are using Chopin and Rachmaninov chord patterns and orchestral ornamentation and melody. Miyako wrote and arranged most of this, but was the singers suggested making a choir part to lead in the piano at the ending movement. THIS is a MASTERPIECE . I am hoping they will perform a concert with a full orchestra one day ( as deep Purple did but better)...it would go viral worldwide. At the other end of the spectrum. "Raise Some Hell" is straight out metal rocker live.
@dino.mozardien3 жыл бұрын
A concert with full orchestra, you hear that @Lovebites. I had thought about this since I listened to Under the Red Sky. It would be awesome the band playing with full orchestra, along with Swan Song, Dystopia Symphony, Glory to the World, The Hammer of Wrath, Winds of Transylvania, and so on..
@thesaturdaymorningcowboy41983 жыл бұрын
I knew you were going to love this one. The Chopin Intro performed by Miyako comes from a classical piece written by the Polish classical composer, Frederic Chopin. Remember, Miyako is a classically trained pianist since the age of 3 and it really shows in her highly advanced piano skill level. Miyako then took elements from it to form the foundation of Swan Song and Asami contributed by writing the lyrics to the song. This is further evidence of the musical genius named Miyako.
@hiawatha.g3 жыл бұрын
With you guys. I've played this song a couple of hundred times, and it always sounds fresh and glorious. And yes, essentially, it IS a classical piece--Miyako, who composes a lot of their music, is a professional concert-level classical pianist, and was originally on track to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and we now see the result. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude. All five members of the band are Jedi-level musicians, but I think Miyako is a once-in-a generation talent, a true savant.

What you awesome people are witnessing is the evolution of what Lovebites are all about, they took a huge chunk of every genre they studied and infused it with the influences of some major classic guitarist of the past and created something that has been missing in a very long time. You can hear a bit Michael Schenker, David Gilmore, Gary Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Bruno Bettencourt, Richie Blackmoore, and so on. You are absolutely correct about the other bands are ok but none are noway near the caliber and talent these amazing ladies possess, I am not even afraid to say that they even put a lot of male bands to shame and make them look like amateurs. They have been around for a short period of time but that means nothing because they have already surpassed many of the greats with their newly created style of metal, I call it White metal which is in total contrast to the black and sliver dark metal. You will eventually realize the many different genres they have in their arsenal, they don't just play one style as do all the rest of the bands and this is what separates them from the rest
@TheCyberMantis3 жыл бұрын
They took everything, and rolled it into ONE BAND. That is why Lovebites is creating miracles! They are #1. They pull influences from everywhere. That was the first thing I noticed about them, when I first discovered them. ( Well, maybe the FIRST thing I noticed about them was how beautiful they are! ) Hehehe!

I love watching your reactions to Lovebites, because I feel exactly the same way. I'm a lot older than you guys, and I had given up on modern music. I either listened to classic rock or classical music. When I first heard Lovebites, it was like being smacked upside the head. And just like you, I love Miyako. I've never seen someone who has such a grasp of music and is able to express that grasp in a way that melts your heart. I love all of the girls cause they're all amazing, but Miyako is special. They have given this old man a new hope for the future of music.
@fastskipper7773 жыл бұрын
The whole song is based on classical music. Miyako loves Chopin and Dvorak. The song is influenced by music of both composers. Actually, google the lyrics. The song is an ode to the fallen warriors / gallant soldiers ("brave soldiers, gallant warriors, valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla, floating lotus, rest peacefully in God's Heaven"). ------- intro is Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude" Opus 10 No. 12. The etude came out at the time of the failed uprising in Warsaw Poland in 1831 during their occupation by the Russian Empire. Chopin, being Polish, would never sat foot in his homeland again. The etude is NOT on their album (yes, I have the album). But, they played the etude as an intro to bookend with the Miyako composed outro piece at the end of the song. You can see why they did it, partly showcase Miyako's jedi like talent, but also to emphasize and paint a beautiful imagery of the song as well as how fitting the lyrics are with the Chopin's Etude. And video does not show it but Asami floats around the stage during Miyako's outro with her rendition of a dying swan. - Yes, she had over, I think, close to 13 years of ballet training.
@TheCyberMantis3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I miss that etude everytime I listen to the album. It feels incomplete without it. I'm sure if they could go back and re-do it... it would be on the album.

You guys just described why I love this band. You understand what this song is all about. This particular song is my favorite. This is THE SONG. That songwriting is genius. (Insert 'Miyako RULES' sign here) Miyako is from classical music, so it's expected that she want a song that features classical music. Chopin and Dvorak have nothing to do with each other, but 🧡 Miyako make them both a good match in metal! 🎸🎹🤘 That outro piano solo was chosen because this is the last song of the album. It's like in folklore, the swans sing with a beautiful voice just before they die (although Asami distracted you guys with swan moves 😂 and leading the crowd chanting just before the beautiful piano ending). These warriors of Metal were fighting since Thunder Vengeance and Holy War and in the end this is a beautiful story in a song. As always, you are awesome and hilarious 🐺 🤘🔥

I'm right there with you as far as saying Miyako rules. Not only does she play the piano, guitar and writes/composes most of the songs, but she does it all so damn well. She is a musical genius. I love the talent of all the other members. They are all superb musicians. But Miyako is special. I think what really draws me to her is she seems stoic when playing as far as her facial expressions and movement on stage. But all her energy and emotions, which we usually don't see, comes out in her playing. There is such a feeling/passion in her playing style that it hits you right in the feels. Another masterpiece you can spin is Edge Of The World. This song shows off Asami's vocal talents. Her background is R&B/Soul and this song falls right into her wheelhouse. This is also one of those songs with an excellent buildup. For a face-melting song, Break The Wall is the song for you. But you will also hear Miyako bare her soul with an amazing solo. I could be here all day lauding Lovebites. They got me from the very first note I heard from them and I have been listening non-stop for over a year now.

I'll just say this ... wait until their Ride for Vengeance DVD/Blue Ray/CD comes out in September from their concert this year. These live MV are amazing, the new one is pure masterpiece. Just watch their trailer for it Heavy Metal Never Dies. The Set The World On Fire was from that one as they intentionally posted it after Miho leaving. Wolfpack never dies.

I think Miyako is a genius. There's a new guitarist on the scene. And it's a woman.

incase you didnt know a swan song also refers to a fallen soldier or warrior which goes with the lyrics of the song as well

Do Burden of Time. There's a short stretch of ten or fifteen seconds where Miyako plays guitar and keyboard and the same time.not even kidding.

Awesome reaction again guys! 😄 You are right on the money, this IS a classical piece in metal form, they have a few songs like this. Classical music is Miyako's playground, she's been playing the piano since age 3. It's not their heaviest song, but it's beautiful and it flows and you got the beautiful vocals and the piano it all blends so well together. AWESOME! After Winds of Transylvania if you want another softer songs try - Edge of the World - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHi1qYt5edmFfKM Empty Daydream - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc For more heavy bangers try - Scream for Me - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5TanKOenN-BnZo The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath - kzbin.info/www/bejne/paWti4OLeNysha8 Shadowmaker - The best version of this song is not available on YT, but hit me up with an email or something, i'll send you a link to the song. (if i post it here YT will just delete the comment). Thanks guys, awesome reactions! 🤘🙂🐺🔥

Okay you guys....now that you have been exposed to the piano...time to weigh in on the debate!! Is Miyako better on the piano or the guitar.???? Song is amazing for how it blends some old masters influences into metal and makes it sound fantastic. Miyako is a real genius, that is why she is so stoic on stage, that brain has so many ideas for the next song(s) being formulated , oh and while I doing that let me play the guitar or piano or both!!!! Thing is no matter what she comes up with, her band-mates can play it, a gift I think she appreciates more than a lot of us give her credit for. Thinking and being creative is great but you have to be able to make that idea work and in this case sound epic...Lovebites makes it look so easy and that is because your polar opposite Midori and the backbone of Haruna and Miho carry any song along in perfect sync and then you have that little Napoleon stage commander who can thunder out over anything you dream up. The perfect band so much talent at every position it is almost criminal!!!!

The evolving part of her piano playing is when she composed songs with it. We expect that coming more. But her guitar playing is full of experiments, unpredictable, except the melodic part that is her style. That's make her unique. Sorry, I didn't answer your question 🧡 Miyako
