There is a history for that. For 50 years or so , Japanese women have been taking over the music world gradually in Japan . Their invasion covers all the areas in Japanese music world . It started in school brass band area, in my opinion. It used to be a male student world , but now female students outnumber male students overwhelmingly . And then ,after high school , they entered various types of music genre. That is the soil of the phenomena that we are witnessing right now .

Not only she plays piano. She is the main composer of the band, and her affect from classic music made the structure and progress of their music a lot like classic music. Like this Winds of Transylvania's got motif of Beethoven in some parts. You can find Rachmaninov, Dovolzark, Tchaikovsky and Shopin in their sound everywhere. Classic music is the base of their sound and makes Lovebites special.

Oh my, your first exposure to Lovebites? This is going to be fun! A little background, since you were wondering: They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" pocket nuke), and they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music. They have only been around for about 4 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. You mentioned Dragonforce--They toured with DF in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. (My opinion is that Li and Totman are a bit faster, but that's about it. Lovebites are heavier, cleaner, more melodic, and much better songwriters). They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and now they’re taking it to another level. They do everything from soulful power ballads to white-hot insane thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. One key to their sound is that the two shredders are so different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The interplay makes their duets really rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") The insane thing is, they are even better live, and they pull off the dual solos without breaking a sweat. You haven't seen anything yet. All members of Lovebites are insanely talented musicians at the top of their game, Not only to they wear high heels to shot a video and while looking like supermodels on the catwalk, Lovebites' members (except Haruna the drummer) perform a full 90 minute plus set, playing their instruments, moving around the stage, headbanging and changing the pedals on their effects boards while wearing four inch high heels and do not even break sweat. They are definitely the real deal. Lovebites live arebetter than than their studio recordings. I recommend 'Break the Wall', 'Edge of the World', 'We the United'' 'Swan Song' from the Zepp Diver City, Tokyo concert in 2020 and 'Epilogue', 'Scream for Me' and 'Above the Black Sea'' from the Daughters of the Dawn conceert recorded in Tokyo in 2019 for starters. You can't go wrong with anything from these two concerts. If you think Lovebites are unique you should also check out another all female Japanese metal band called NEMOPHILA - I recommend 'RAITEI', 'SORAI' or OIRAN and also Asterism 'Light in the Darkness'. Japan is overflowing with incredibly talented male and female rock musicians and bands

Lovebites was touring with Dragon Force in Europe before the covid shutdown. Japan is the #2 music market in the world and very dynamic. Bands form, reform, divide and merge. The arts are still taught in Japanese schools and talent in the arts is recognized early. There is an infrastructure of schools for vocal, dance and acting training. At as early age 5/6 children audition for acceptance. An example is Surka Gakuin, where the members of Babymetal came from. In the case of Lovebites Miyako started piano at 3 yo and picked up the guitar at 17/18 yo and Asami (singer) was taking ballet at 6 yo (?). FYI, that was Miyako playing the piano in this video. Checkout Miyako's KZbin channel, she'll take her guitar apart for you.

Fun fact as you called them "Ironmaiden and Dragonforce" because Iron Maiden is one of their first inspirations. They have an increible song called "The Crusader" who is a tribute for "Aces High" from Iron Maiden And also because a lot more pointed, they toured with Dragonforce. And also Herman Lee appears once in a white dress like the "lost member of Lovebites" (really fun one) And they are the tip of the iceberg, there´s a lot more of all female metalheads in Japan, you must check on "Aldious" who are also 5 women and start making metal from the 2008 until now

This is nothing they have better shredding abilities and some of the greatest guitar battles known to the rock world. The intro and outro piano sections are done by Miyako the dark hired Dean Flying V guitarist, the blonde babe is Midori two of the world's greats. Now let's see where you guys take this journey you have just begun takes you? will you go on or just drop them as many do and react maybe once a month or what? A lot of us used to leave links to their songs but are getting tired of all the bullshit that is out there. Yeah guys you just open up the pandora box. Right you just sow the winners of 2018 in category for best new metal band. Lovebites are formed 2016 in Tokyo from ex Destrose band members Miho the bassist and composer ( she is the band leader) and Haruna the drummer ( best female power metal drummer in the world at the moment) the other members are Asami the vocalist and songwriter ( she was R&b and jazz singer before to join the band) Midori the lead guitarist and backing vocals with the blonde hair ( one of the fastest female guitarists in the world at the moment she is like a demon on the guitar ) and Miyako the other lead guitarist, pianist and composer ( she is the main composer of the band). Lovebites always play on the high heels and they prefer to sing English. They are influenced by 80s metal. Their last album Electric pentagram was nominated for one one of the best 20 metal albums for 2020 year. Miho the bassist mentioned once in interview- we are here to make something memorable. They want to step closer to their inspiration bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Halloween, Metallica and Slayer. About the video Lovebites was invited by authors of the cartoon animate movie Vladlove to make a song. By the way they like to touring in Europe i know that because I've seen them twice in Wacken Germany in 2018 and UK 2019 year ( and in UK they was invited by Dragon force to touring together). So you have to check them live, i can recommend the open show song Thunder vengeance from the live show Five of a kind in Zepp Diversity Tokyo from 2020. Enjoy it.

The solo on this lasts for 80 seconds, I timed it, their solos generally do go on for a while and are always the highlight of their songs. great reaction dudes.....I love it when people's eye's and ears are introduced to Japanese music....visual Kei is the genre.....and the girls have taken over! The girls are keeping hard rock alive in the world. Lovebites are my number 2 band. Go check out Nemophila "Dissension" or "Raitai" they are superb!! but there are so many female fronted rock bands from Japan now. You can't deny Band-Maid, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Necromidol etc. ....and for male fronted...check out Galneryus with guitarist "Syu" who even Clapton worships!....or Jupiter....with Teru & Hizaki the worlds prettiest bloke!!!!

Sure, there are plenty of vids from Aldious, Cyntia, Band-Maid and others but Lovebites actually left their comfort zone to tour the UK (and this year I think they were planning to include Europe - no idea if that happened). By all accounts, they bring it live and to me that's the difference between a manufactured band and the real deal - I wish them every success.

Everyone misses the bit in the intro: If you listen closely, it's Beethoven. But if you guys think that they go straight power metal, anyone want to tell them that they pull this off live? and in heels? Or would it be too early to have them go both Slayer and Anthrax on them? Thunder Vengeance, and Hammer of Wrath, either from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo, or Daughters of the Dawn. They'll want to trade in their guitars and go to law school after that.

BabyMetal is awesome mate. They are also the reason I started checking out Japanese metal, which in turn introduced me to Lovebites (best power metal band in the world right now, in my opinion), and other amazing bands like Aldious, Mary´s Blood, Unlucky Morpheus, Band Maid and many others. The Japanese scene is just blowing my mind.

@@JohnPMatias16 same story here - listened to babymetal 'karate' in 2016 and thought it was different than anything we ever had in the states. pretty cool. then videos started popping up for band maid, destrose, rie aka suzaku , scandal and all that you mention. so this old dude found some amazing new music - then came lovebites from the ashes of destrose to claim my heart

@@thedocofrock1890 That's awesome mate. More or less the same for me, although I am in Europe. Lovebites are truly special, but Japan is filled with special bands. It's funny, I started buying music in physical format again when I discovered these bands. Some CD's are expensive, but I don't regret it one bit. I do what I can to support talented artists that I love. If you like Destrose, check out Mardelas, the singer is Marina, former Destrose vocalist. Check out the newest female super band coming out of Japan as well, Nemophila. They are amazing. Stay safe, and rock on! 🤘

If you guys want more Japanese metal, look into Galnyerus. Their guitarist, Syu, is something to behold. There's a lot of Galneyus's influence in LOVEBITES' music, the music video for Glory To the World was even shot at the same church Galneryus used for Angel of Salvation.
