The "Moonlighting Theme" was awesome, and so was the show!
@walterrutherford83212 ай бұрын
@@mkmstillstackin I started re-watching Moonlighting, and I had forgotten that Al Jarreau sang the title song. One of the best TV show theme songs ever. It was our introduction to Bruce Willis. It was deliberately goofy, and clever, and often broke the 4th wall to talk directly to the camera. Jay and Amber should watch at least one episode to see how young Bruce looked. 😆
@mkmstillstackin2 ай бұрын
@@walterrutherford8321 it was indeed a terrific theme song. Glad this reaction jarred your memory. What a great idea, too, and I totally agree It'd be awesome if Jay and Amber were to give the show a try. It truly was uniquely humorous and entertaining. Willis and Shepherd were brilliant, and Agnes DiPesto's phone answering quips alone were worth the price of admission. 😂
@suebob162 ай бұрын
Yes for the Moonlighting theme! An early version had a harmonica moment in the middle but it was later replaced with the saxophone which I personally think is better, so I hope you react to that one.

Some of my favorites are Roof Garden, Grandma's Hands, Lovely Day, and We're In This Love Together. Thank GOD one of his shipmates in the merchant marines convinced him to try for a singing career. We owe that man a debt of gratitude.

Would say Al Jarreau is almost undefinable in terms of quality like smooth, or style. He clearly had a heart grounded in jazz in terms of the freedom it gave for him to scat (improvise freestyle based on the song harmony), or beat box, & to explore musical dynamics whether singing soft, smooth, or loud & powerful. Even in this song where you paused, was in the middle of the bridge, just when Al was about to crescendo to the night notes climax of the song. So he even showed dynamic vast dynamic range in this one track. Spain, Take Five, Fly, You Don’t See Me, Rainbow in Your Eyes. There’s a vast rabbit hole to go down with the late great Al Jarreau, no doubt.

Like Amber says “ I have so much to say”… Al Jarreau is a legend , and this was one of his biggest hits, but if you want to see a more upbeat fun side of why Al was a legend , listen to songs like “ Love Is Real” , “ Boogie Down “ , “Roof Garden” , “ Let’s Pretend” “ Distracted” and his legendary cover of the classic “ Take 5” .the man was a Jazz Vivaldi legend whose jazz hits crossed over to R&B and Pop radio. Like someone said , you guys didn’t know who he was even the second time you reacted to “ We Are The World” , I would watch that again on your own time just to see if you instantly recognize everyone in the room this time( y’all didn’t even know the director Quincy Jones, that’s a whole nother huge legendary story by himself) .. One more thing I’ll say about Al , just like legends like Prince, Luther Vandross , Chaka Khan , Billy Joel , and others , one thing about Al was that he was one if the most dynamic live performers , and you should check out some of his concert clips , I saw him live 5 times and like Prince , it still wasn’t enough . I wanted to see him again , but we lost Al in 2017, one year after Prince died. RIP Al Jarreau , and thank you for your legendary legacy of music you left us .. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🎤🎤🎤🎤💐💐💐

Al was first a great jazz recording artist (with a great Live jazz album, Look to the Rainbow, in 1977) and then he "crossed over" into pop. He had a string of hits, including We're In This Love Together and the theme song from the TV show Moonlighting (starring newcomer Bruce Willis), but my personal favorite is After All, a beautiful love song. BTW, Gene Kelly had a big dance number with animated Jerry of Tom and Jerry in Anchors Aweigh in 1945. Worth seeing on KZbin.
